I didn't think you were being a bitch, just thought it was an odd post. Sometimes it's difficult to tell where someone is coming from on a message board. I meant no harm in my response either.

When did Lisa get married?! Nico's now calling some other man dad? I know she shouldn't be alone forever, but I hope Lisa got Ms. Nel's blessing before she found another man to settle down with. Rant over. This posting struck me as very odd. 1) I don't think it is really any of our business. 2) I certainly hope Nico has a father figure in her life, hopefully one she thinks enough of to call him "Dad". 3) I don't think Lisa needs anybody's blessing to move on with her life. 4) Again, it is none of our business. Anyway, it was a weird first post Kera but welcome to the board.

After listening to this audio clip of the Howard Stern show, I think that it doesn't mean too much in the scheme of things. When reading the tabloid headlines from the ragazines in the grocery store check-out aisle, I sometimes wonder, how do these publications not get sued for all of the crap they print? But then I remember that it is quite rare for an individual to win a case against a tabloid for printing something that is untrue. The reason for this (usually) is that most people don't put any stock into what tabloids print, and therefore most courts rule in favor of the tabloid, just because most people don't believe the crap that is printed in the headline of a tabloid. I'm not saying that Stern's comments about Shannon are true or false. I just think its one of those situations (like some people have already stated) - consider the source. He's just trying to get a rise out of people. And if this gets our panties in a bunch, then he will be satisfied that his job has been done well. Don't give him (or anyone) that satisfaction that they don't deserve. In conclusion, I will just say that I respect the person that Shannon Hoon was (infinitely more than who Howard Stern is or could ever be). Well said my friend! Also, not that this excuses anything by any stretch of the imagination, but Stern has changed his tactics after Artie Lange died. Seems to happen to most people after they lose someone who is important to them and they can see it from the inside. He's not quite so harsh about people who OD. Most of the time instead now he gives almost like a PSA telling people to get help. Sad that it took someone else to die for him to get it. Artie died? That's news to me and probably to him too.

Just Stern being Stern. He actually pays him and the band a lot of compliments. They goof on "some" of the fans more than they goof on him. It was interesting to listen to.

From the moment I got into BM I always wanted to hear them cover Pink Floyd's "Fearless". Oddly enough the closest I have come was hearing Alice Donut cover it when they opened for melon back in the day.
The recorded version has four guitars so there is opportunity for CT, Travis and Rogers to put their stamp on it and I know CT would blow minds on slide guitar.

Travis is THE man. He was chosen by the band for a reason (twice now). I can understand if he isn't everybody's cup of tea but apparently he is more than satisfying for many long time fans. Maybe he partied it up a bit much on tour, he wouldn't be the first lead singer to do that (*cough* Shannon). Maybe the schedule was a bit much for his voice to take, his voice wasn't that "road tested" with his previous bands and Shannon's vocals are a stretch for the best of singers. I truly believe that if the internet didn't exist they would have worked out the problem without any of us knowing. Seems like in the heat of the moment the problem was broadcast to the world and it was a lot harder to repair. Will BM reach that commercial success they had before? Probably not, they were already losing it before Shannon died. They lost a lot of bandwagon fans that come with a "pop" cross-over hit. I remember one show I saw just after "No Rain" blew up and the audience was over 50% 12-16yo girls who didn't stick around to get beyond "No Rain". Can you picture one of those girls rushing out to buy "Soup" to hear another "No rain"? As WE all know, they are a hard band to categorize and I do believe in time more people would have discovered Soup for what it is, a masterpiece. I think the comparison to AIC isn't a good analogy, they had several commercial CDs before they lost Layne so they had a larger, established fan base.

Here is a band called "The Nico Blues" who were big fans of Mr. Hoon: www.thenicoblues.com/Four songs from "For My Friends" appear on the soundtrack to this movie: www.imdb.com/title/tt1308745/This got me thinking about what other soundtracks they have been on. Here is a list from IMDB, most I knew of some I didn't: Beautiful Darling (documentary) (performer: "Candy Says Country Jellyfish Live Version") 2010/II The Absent ("So High", "Cheetum Street", "Sometimes", "Wishing Well") 2009 Being Erica (TV series short) – The Secret of Now (2009) (performer: "No Rain") 2008 Entourage (TV series) – First Class Jerk (2008) (performer: "Change" - uncredited) 2008 Lost Boys: The Tribe (video) (performer: "For My Friends" - uncredited) 2007 Remember the Daze (performer: "Seed to a Tree") 2006 You, Me and Dupree (performer: "Three Is a Magic Number") 2005 The O.C. (TV series) – The Rainy Day Women (2005) (performer: "No Rain" - uncredited) 2004 Without a Paddle (performer: "No Rain") 2004 I Love the '90s (TV series documentary) – 1993 (2004) (performer: "No Rain") 2002 Slackers (performer: "Three is a Magic Number") 1999 Never Been Kissed (performer: "Three Is a Magic Number") 1997 Private Parts (writer: "No Rain" / performer: "No Rain") 1995 Beavis and Butt-Head (TV series) – U.S. History (1995) (performer: "Galaxie") 1994 The Cowboy Way (performer: "Candy Says")

Mother

A cover of PF's "Mother" does exist along with a lot of things that never made it to the trading community. I was once in touch with a guy in FL that had this and many other rare items. He played some of "Mother" over the phone for me. He also had home video from a party Shannon was at with him paying guitar and singing. He also had the Shannon acoustic disc that finally made it to our ears thanks to Nel. Point is, there is so much more out there that most of us would die to hear but either people are sitting on it because they promised not to let it out or the band doesn't feel it is "releasable" quality. If the documentary (what happened to the Sundance 2011 premiere?) time-line is any indication of new melon surfacing we may see it when we are elderly melons if ever at all.

It is sad. When my time to go comes I hope it's just after a melon show, I would consider that going out on a high note. R.I.P. George

This is really good news but seems kind of random, very unexpected. Is this to start to create some buzz to take advantage of the the documentary release? Didn't they say the doc would premiere at Sundance 2011, which is 1/20 - 1/30? Seems like they may be touring the area of Sundance in late Jan, early Feb.

Shinn? Really? Why? Is there a Vigilstock? Is his band planning on playing? Or better yet a nice acoustic performance by him. I'm not really into the whole vigil thing but I would make the trip to see him play.

I didn't even see the influences, that is funny. He seems to have a fetish for the blind.

The public board isn't a place to discuss details, I'll PM you with what I mean by my comments.
