WOW! The vids are great! Makes me excited to think about all the stuff that is out there that we have yet to see/hear, and I know there is a lot of it. It also kinda pisses me off that we have to wait so long and search so hard to find it. I really wish the band would get their new site up and start sharing more with us. Yes, I know it takes time and Blind Melon is a business of which they are trying to maximize earing potential, don't blame them but damn I need/want more . I also think they shouldn't be so worried about "Quality Control", what are less than stellar performances in the band's mind are most likely a fan's wet dream. Again, those vids are magic! Thanks for posting the link, now if only i could get the DVD.

My mistake I was at a show there later in the year, I think they did one more show the next day in CA, then a month later the break-up news came. It must have been early October when I last saw them, I remember it was thr first time I flew after 9/11. Anybody know the show I am talking about?

I am just really bummed that I cannot be there for the first show on the 4th. Even if the other BM guys don't show up I have been itching to see Travis. Selfishly I hope they don't play with him becuz I'd hate to miss it. The stuff I've gotten off the net from him, 70 songs, continues to impress me, especially the live Metro-00 tunes. His voice is impressive and powerful live. The more I hear him I can understand why he inspired the band to reform. He is an impressive guitar player/musician too so that ought to free CT up play with more of his toys to add some flavor. On another note, Matt, any word on the second UT release, they said March and here it is? I was at their second to last show at the Troubadour in LA and they played quite a few of the new stuff and their were some great riffs in there. It's too bad, I was going to try and record it but got busted with the recorder on the way in . Been waiting ever since to get a second taste of a great band they broke up before its time. Matt, I noticed on the UT myspace page it says a recording exists for the 02/28/01 show, anyn idea where i can get a copy?

Travis has two solo shows coming up with "special guests". What are the odds of the other BM boys showing up with him? His first show is 4/4, unfortunately I have business obligations that prevent me from making it to the show. Is anybody here planning on going? I would love to hear a report about the show. He has another one in May and I am in the process of booking my plane ticket to check it out.

Regarding who wrote the songs, Harmful Belly is a Travis song from what I can tell. I think he had it on his myspace a while back. I think Make a Difference might be a leftover Unified Theory song but I could be wrong. I was at UT's last gig they played before the break up and I swear I heard that song. In the end we all know that any Blind Melon song was written by Blind Melon as one .

Very good stuff! "Make a Difference" sounds a bit familiar. I was at the last live gig Unified Theory played before they broke up and I swear I heard that song. I wouldn't be surprised if we hear a UT version pop up some time.

We should start campaigning to get Blind Melon to play a benefit concert for Nico at the next Vigil. Based on the events of the last month I think it is a real possibility, I don't think Nel or anyone would object to it.
What do you think?
Just imagine how amazing the show could be.

Rebekah, I was only speaking for myself and I know there are others who feel the same. We all choose to honor our losses in our own ways. All I was saying is I understand why the band doesn't go. I know they have their reasons and they honor his memory in their own ways.

Keep in mind that the vigil is not everyone's cup of tea. I went a few years back and while it was nice to see other melons the whole thing was not my scene. Hanging out in the graveyard is not how I want to celebrate his life, just doesn't make sense to ME. Then again I don't care for graves period, I am more of an ashes to ashes, dust to dust type. This may offend some here but the way some of the fans act about Shannon is just plain weird to me. Those that deify him or the ones with “schoolgirl crushes” just leaves me feeling uneasy. I love the band and the music but some people just take it too far.
However, I do like the idea of playing BM music to celebrate his life. Unfortunately the year I went to the vigilstock was disappointing, not a single melon tune to be heard. I totally understand why the other band members are not there. It would be incredibly awkward for them.
