There really wasn't too many people there, I counted about two dozen melon fans. They played nothing from for my friends, here are the songs I remember in no particular order: 2x4 Toes Across the Floor Soup Soak the Sin Paper Scratcher Drive I Wonder Sleepyhouse Change Skinned Time No Rain The Pusher

. What does this tell you? It tells me exactly what Travis said in the interview. Right now the shows are a tribute to Shannon. I agree with Travis, CD's are irrelevant. I would be glad to have them working on and releasing singles, EPs, whatever, just keep the music flowing, kinda like what Travis has been doing on his own with his various projects. I have gotten so much great music from him in the last 5 years, probably 20 CD's worth. As long as I get to hear some great music and get to see them live I am a happy melon.

I am wondering the same thing. I don't have a long drive but I really don't have any interest in seeing anyone but Blind Melon.

The hardest part of being a Chris Shinn fan is you need a phenomenal amount of patience and take every promise with a grain of salt.

Are there any other melonheads that are fans of Michael Kelsey? I am going to see him in Waukegan, IL on Saturday and I haven't see him for play two years so I am stoked. His shows are always a blast.

If anyone has searched Blind Melon on Youtube you undoubtedly have come across one of the MANY videos of Meg and Dia covering No Rain. Last night I saw Dia on NBC's the Voice. Maybe she will sing No Rain during the competition and BM can get some more money to finish the documentary.

Hopefully the trailer and perhaps a little more in the way of a teaser would generate some buzz and funding.

Since one of five will be in town they should book a melon gig too.

Sometimes I think they are just looking to cash in on the name. Sorry. I don't want to offend other melons it's JMHO. They have every right to. This whole debate has played itself out on this board before. I am sorry for those who don't enjoy the Travis incarnation of the band. Even if Shannon was still around and BM was still making music with him it would not be the same. Believe it or not there are many who are fans of the band for more than Shannon, I love the musicianship first and foremost. CT and Rogers amazing synergy, Brad's sweet base and Glen's amazing feel. "For My Friends" is in my playlist and there isn't a single song I skip over and I get something new every time I hear it (thanks BM). As for Travis T. Warren, I know exactly why he was able to pull them together, his work prior to BM, with BM and on the side from BM has expanded my listening pleasure immensely, the guy is an amazing songwriter/musician. I am looking forward to seeing them June 18th at Slinger Rocks. I just hope a lot of fellow melons make it there to really bring the vibe.

In almost ever interview I have seen with Shannon he is being a "dick", I think smart ass is a better term for it. Most interviewers are idiots and deserve it.

I think his intentions were good but the term "meloned" isn't exactly a compliment, that is what I meant by "not so flattering". Unfortunately he was right on with his analogy. I was one of those people who heard No Rain, which is a great song, and went out to buy the CD that day only to be VERY pleasantly surprised to find the other songs were indeed nothing like No Rain. They were even better! To this day I see many forum members get offended when people label Blind Melon as a "one hit wonder". Technically it is true but it is no reflection on the talent or depth of a band so I don't think people should take it to heart. There are MANY great bands that had only one "hit". I am thankful they had that one hit because many bands never do and the fact is that one hit has allowed the band to afford to pursue musical careers instead of working a regular 9 to 5'er like the rest of us.

Just found this. Why isn't the band letting us know about these dates popping up? By the way, don't read the comments, they are not kind. I must say Blind Melon should be playing better gigs than this. Who is booking for them? They should be trying to get booked for Summerfest. I am sure Glen will be stoked to open for Ace though. They have backstage VIP tix for $100. www.jsonline.com/entertainment/musicandnightlife/119698664.html?page=1
