Hi allthatineeded, Yeah, I'm really not happy with David Roberts {who ever the hell he is?} comment. But I'm trying to read further into his Analogy. I get hurt when someone or something that, I love with a passion, gets ripped apart or disrespected, but, I'm trying to dive deeper into this particular paragraph, thinking maybe it's not as hurtful as we are taking it. Here is the part I'm talking about:
G. Love got what I call "meloned," after their contemporaries Blind Melon. A band gets meloned when they release a good album that later becomes associated in everyone's mind with a particularly annoying single that a bunch of particularly annoying people like. For Blind Melon it was the infamous "bee girl" song. For G. Love it was "Cold Beverages."
Now he does say, they released "A Good Album". We all know"No Rain", is a happy feel good, Awesome song and in no way shape or form annoying. Same holds true that all of us Melons & even non Melons, mostly that like the song, aren't annoying either. In this Interview with Blind Melon, Brad Smith, says, "If people are buying the Album because of "No Rain" they may be unpleasantly surprised, because there's not another song on the Album that sounds like that".
. It's 1:09 minutes into it. So I'm choosing, not to take offense at that Bozo's statement. Thank you for sharing this, I personally have never seen it before.

I think his intentions were good but the term "meloned" isn't exactly a compliment, that is what I meant by "not so flattering". Unfortunately he was right on with his analogy. I was one of those people who heard No Rain, which is a great song, and went out to buy the CD that day only to be VERY pleasantly surprised to find the other songs were indeed nothing like No Rain. They were even better! To this day I see many forum members get offended when people label Blind Melon as a "one hit wonder". Technically it is true but it is no reflection on the talent or depth of a band so I don't think people should take it to heart. There are MANY great bands that had only one "hit". I am thankful they had that one hit because many bands never do and the fact is that one hit has allowed the band to afford to pursue musical careers instead of working a regular 9 to 5'er like the rest of us.

I am gonna Guess That Blind Melon's 1 HIT is Probably 1 more hit than David Roberts has had. With That being said, I appreciate this Guys View on The Subject. We all Have our own Views, and thats what makes us individuals. If it werent for all the people who View Blind Melon as a "one Hit Wonder", Then We Melonheads wouldnt be such an Elite group. More Power to You David Roberts....
