Eeep, I just finished Cell by Stephen King and I'm 3/4 of the way through Desperation, also by SK. I love this guy! Anyone a huge fan of the Dark Tower series?

After jokingly flipping to random pages of an encyclopedia of serial killers that my sisters boyfriend had I've become absorbed in some pretty interesting facts and information and will continue to read it.
I'm also about done The Picture of Dorian Gray and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with it. Also one of the many things I've been reading is The Maxx graphic novel...which I got from my sisters boyfriend ...who may be a bad influence on me j/k
I'm also about to start a portrait of an artist as a young man...My sister couldn't read it because the broken english from the poorly translated gaelic ...it's one of the first english copies but I think I'll manage.

Hey did you guys know that there is actually a movie for "Running with Scissors"? I watched it last night, it was pretty good and only a few things were different from the book.

Greg and I watched it last year because Meredith said how good it was. Since we've seen it we have incorporated the word "masturbatorium" into our collective vocabulary.

I just started reading "Living With The Dead: Twenty Years on the Bus with Garcia and the Grateful Dead" by Rock Scully. I couldn't put it down last night, I'm about 70 pages into it and it's right up my alley. Gabby, you'll probably like this one, Janis has been mentioned here and there. Rock Scully is their manager who was with them since the beginning and he has all sorts of crazy, funny, and interesting stories about his experiences with them. Anyone who is into the Grateful Dead or the '60's San Francisco scene at all would enjoy this.

Thanks for the suggestion Sonya, that definitely sounds like a good read. I'll have to hunt for it next time I'm at a bookstore. I have about 10 pages left of The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson.. I loved it! It starts out sorta slow but it definitely picks up

I agree Gabby. I read it a few months ago. It's different than the other stuff I've read so far by HST. I scored a huge jackpot of his books really cheap at the used book store over the summer but I haven't had time to read any of them yet b/c of school. At least I know they are waiting for me as soon as I finish this semester. ;D 12 more weeks...I've already started the countdown to the end of the semester so you know it's bad.

LOL!
Since I'm not taking many classes I'm actually reading like a maniac.
I think the reason Rum Diary is so different is because it was his first novel right? I'm not absolutely sure about that, but it says he was only 22 when he wrote it. I think it's amazing that it makes no references to any drugs at all, but he makes up for it with the mentions of alcohol all over the book. I felt hungover just reading!
Have you read Screwjack? It's really short and crazy!
Those are the only books of his I've read, along with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (which I actually just picked up again because I didn't understand English all that well when I first read it).
My local library doesn't have any of his work (shame!) but Im looking to buy Hell's Angels next. Do you have any others that you recommend?

I just got done reading Marley and Me. Cheesy I know but it was so funny and I cried like a goober at the end. I only got it b/c my old black lab was named Marley.

ooohhh a book thrread! I am happy I found this one! I am the biggest nerd when it comes to books! Ok I want to read the Grateful Dead book. Right now I am reading Push Not the River.... For some old novels I suggest Wilkie Collins. The books are mysteries but they are hard to figure out who done it, easy to understand...I recommend The Moonstone. I would also recommend The Thirteenth Tale...Stupid and Contagious...oh and Joanne Harris wrote a amazing book called Gentlemen and Players. I could go on and on...books are my crack. I get all tingly when I go to a bookstore!
