I've never been, but I've heard that there's a camping there too and some melons camp. It already lasts all weekend but what I was thinking is that it would be nice to make it even longer, for those who can stay of course...you know, just stay there, go see Shannon, hang around with melons for a few more days cause we don't get that chance every day...

i camp there every year, last two year i have not stayed in the tent some how i manage to fall asleep next to shannnon. sounds weird i know, but it dont feel weird. only melonheads could understand that sleeping in a grave yard is not weird. but yeah alot of us camp, and im sure if people wanted to plan to extented the weekend it could happen, only i know we all get togeather twice a year now insted of just once. we all get togeather for the weekend of 4/20 too. but yeah man bring a tent, and ur melon spirte and everything should go smooth...

I don't find it weird sleeping next to Shannon. I'd find it weird if it was "just" a grave yard, but next to Shannon sounds nice to me. I was already thinking, when I get there...I know it will be hard for me to leave the grave, so I was thinking, I could just stay there...all night and sleep, if I could.

There's something oddly peaceful and serene about a cemetary.

There's something oddly peaceful and serene about a cemetary. yes, in Paris I went sometimes for a walk on Pere Lachaise cemetary. It's the big one where Morrison and Oscar Wild are burried (and lots of other known people). It was the most peaceful place I found in Paris, full of trees too. Otherwise you had to do an one hour drive to get out to a peaceful place... Quite some people went there just for a walk, it's nice. Then it's true that when my cusin died and the funeral was there and now there's a remebering place for him there too, when I went there after that it wasn't the same anymore. It became a sad place.

I can see how it would be. Once you become personally involved, it's not just trees and meadows.

I have never been a fan of going to cemetarys just for a walk but i can see why people like that. Then it`s like Larsons said, once you become personally involved, it's not just trees and meadows.

I know this may sound a bit stupid since i haven`t met any of you(yet!),but i have planned on taking "at least" one pic with only people from this forum at next years vigil(hopefully many will come). And when i get home i`ll frame that bastard and hang it up on the wall. Almost a year to go and i`m thinking about little details like that... #paranoid_02#

And no, it doesnt sound stupid at all, heck we're all a family, it's only natural you put up a family shot right? Are you coming for sure Joel? Come on, I want everyone telling me they're gonna make it for sure, that will give me more motivation to postpone my trip to Hawaii! hehehe Camping would be lovely, I too stay at the cemetary for the night(s)... Last year (05) was soooo nice outside, but the year before I seriously thought I was going to freeze to death. Fer, Panda and I stayed at the cemetary on Friday night and there was no one else there so no ride back to the hotel. Ive never been so cold in my life, but I dont regret a second of it cause we had a damn good time. There's a campground around the area too, Ive never checked it out but that might be a good alternative to Knights Inn, especially during the mini-vigil since it's warmer then.

Btw, as for making the weekend longer.. I certainly agree, but I'd recommend just get there earlier in the week. It's nice b/c you get some alone time with Shannon and you also get all the excitement of seeing the hotel fill with melonheads, little by little. In 04 Emma, Kiwi and I stayed til Tuesday afternoon, and let me tell you it was soooooo depressing. I dont know, just seeing everyone leave and then seeing the grave all empty and with left over candlewax and all the glitter on the floor... Saying goodbye to everyone is so hard too! I think it's just better to get there early and leave with everyone... Unless you have a really big group and plenty of alcohol to keep you happy, lol
