I listened to the stuff that was posted and to be honest, for me, none of them have "the" sound. With all due respect to those artists I don't hear and have yet to hear someone I think would fit. I agree...no chicks! Did anyone here ever see the first Speakermind show at Vigilstock with Brent Starkey Greentree as the singer? They were the only band that did an all Melon set and went on last. Brent could sing pretty well but I know he sent in tapes and was not asked to audition. I hope we hear something soon but then, you can't rush greatness and Shannon and Travis set the bar incredibly high. Whenever it happens, I'll be here...

Yes!! I had a blast!! What a great bunch of guys! Turns out I've seen Matt perform before! Ten Pound Brown opened for Halo Complex in San Diego and I was at that show! Matt said CT was at a Transfer show a few weeks back (they're friends). So obviously he is aware of Matt's sound. But after seeing them live it's clear to me that he's not right for BM. He's too tall! Hahaha! Seriously though, they have more of a Kings Of Leon vibe. Not to mention that they seem to be doing well and are probably stoked on their band right now. But I'm so glad I went! I am now a fan. I'll post some pics on my Facebook Matt. But whoever is singing in the link VintageMelon just posted sounds way more BM's style. I'm not musical enough to know whether he's technically a great singer or not but he sounds more suitable to me! But he's only singing on one song. Sounds more Travis' style too. So he tried out??

I just got an eMail from Matt saying that he was pretty wrapped up with Transfer. He also said that (like you said) knows CT. He actually knows Brad as well. Matt was at Wishbone a few years back.
Glad you had fun! Send me a link to the pics when you get a chance! #rock#

He told me he knew them both, as I mentioned, they opened for Halo Complex. We actually ended up having another unrelated friend in common too. Small world!! The pictures will be on my facebook, pay attention and you'll see them!! Haha!

Brent impressed me because he has the high vocal range but can do the heavier Travis thing too. Anyone who goes to Nel's myspace page hears the song cuz Speakermind wrote a song for her called Thank You Nel Hoon and it's her profile song. #hoonsmiley#
