Good day to you all.... Given our recent convoluted history and taking into consideration all the questions we've been receiving about our status, now seems like a good time for a State of the Melon address. As we previously mentioned, our New Year's Eve show in Detroit was the final show with Travis. We're continuing our search to find a singer that fits the band. If you know anybody who's great, have 'em send an mp3 to: blindmelonsinger@gmail.com. All future shows, including the tour in Japan are being put on hold until we find a singer who can help us move forward with a new record. We are all writing new songs now with the anticipation of releasing a new album as soon as we can find a piece to fit our puzzle. We'll let you know when things get rolling........Thanks to you all! B. Melon

Damn. Travis really is gone for good. Guess things happen for a reason. Sure it sucks, but thats not what we love about blind melon. WE love YOU, the music, and the message, and the feeling we get when we're happy, sad, mad, or depressed. Thanks for everything

Thank yo so much for an update and a definitve word on Travis - I am dissapointed to lose him, btu trust the band to make the best choices for them, of course. I will look to the future and the excitement that a new singer brings!
Tip: make it a hot guy like Shannon and the band will get more attention! Perhaps it shouldn't be this way, but it's true!

Honestly, I was hoping they were saying they were retiring Blind Melon. With all due respect and more, I hope they don't find a new singer. I don't think that will be a problem because Shannon and Travis were the only two who could have done it.

When he came along, he became a favorite to some. Whose to say it won't happen again...

I have to admit, I completely agree with Guitarbutt. I dunno what it is, but for some reason, Travis just never felt... "right" to me.. I understand that it's not the Blind Melon I grew up with, but for whatever reason it's not the one I can love and adore anymore. I think it's time to throw in the towel, guys. Just let the memories live on with both Shannon and Travis and go and try other endeavours. You've all done some amazing stuff in the mean time, with Unified Theory and Abandon Jalopy and such.. There's a place for you guys in my heart, but as far as Blind Melon goes, there's only a small place for that and the Shannon Melon is where it is.. <3 All the best to you guys and much Melon love <3

That pretty much sucks. I hate beating a dead horse on the Shinn subject but I just can't see him not fitting with Melon. Man, I would love to hear him sing with the band just one time!

They cancelled the Japan tour?! Man, that sucks. It feels like they have been scheduling and canceling dates a lot, but hey, the music industry is a nuts place. I'm sure the guys are doing all they can do, and I hope they find what is good for them. And too bad about the Travis thing, especially right after his Rolling Stone recognition. I hope to hear lots from him in the future!!!

I guess I am not as blown away by the aura of what Shannon Hoon has left behind other than four guys without a band. Then Travis, whom we all suspected was doing this to jump start his career, goes and leaves the same 4 guys without a band. I love listening to Blind Melon and having 4 albums worth of stuff to listen to is great, but I go and count the Abandon Jalopy and Unified Theory in that, making me just as happy. Then I put in Everything is Energy and there is a continuity there, due to the whole feel of it. I don't know why you aren't just playing with Shinn and calling it Unified Melon or Blind Theory or whatever. I just want to here you guys put out more material. Shannon was great, but he is DEAD. SO whatever Vigils people want to sulk over or whatever is there own business but don't hold it as pressure against the band to discontinue. They already did that for over a decade. Let's hope they tour and make more music. I would rather have them find a new singer than wait for the next crappy band that some cheese magazine and the buzz on the internet tries to get me to listen to by selling them down my throat. Viva la Melon!!!!

I for one will cry if Blind Melon disbands again. They were my favorite band since '93 and when they lost Shannon I was heartbroken. I have worn down all my cd's and burnt out my ipod listening to their music and when I heard they were on tour I almost had a heart attack! I only saw them once with Travis before they cancelled the tour (I was 8 1/2 pregnant and due to see all the east coast shows before those were cancelled) but the one show I did see was the best show of my life. That band has chemistry like not many other bands have! No one will ever replace Shannon, or Travis for that matter, but the music still makes my hair stand on end every single time I listen. I hope they stay together and keep touring with another new singer. Blind Melon is a band.

whoever these folks are who are suggesting that BM should R.I.P or no longer be a band or whatever they are saying ... obviously have not heard For My Friends.. it just further shows the NEVERENDING talent of the whole band... Shannon was a huge part of BM and maybe the original reason they got attention.... but you guys have got more talent than can be put into words... side projects and such are one thing... but BM is a whole nother that should never be lost until EVERY member of the band has met their demise... no sooner... if you still feel the music and play it like I have heard you play it... keep it coming... Travis will be sorely missed... amazing singer.. but Blind Melon is still Blind Melon and I hope they never pack it in... Thanks for everything guys... the music and memories to go along with them and the ones yet to come... I anxiously await what comes next!!
