Dave Matthews Band Bassist Narrowly Escapes Fire

Longtime Dave Matthews Band bassist Stefan Lessard and his young son narrowly escaped a house fire which destroyed their Charlottesville, VA home yesterday. According to local press, the house is heavily damaged and total loss is presumed. The fire is believed to have started on the front porch around 7:30 AM and firefighters were only able to save Lessard’s Chevrolet Chevelle from his garage. The bassist is an avid extreme sports enthusiast with a collection of vehicles and equipment.

In total over 40 firefighters from five area departments were called into save the seven year old, 3,200 square foot house. Lessard reportedly stayed onsite while the team tried to calm the fire. According to reports, the house burned quickly because of its cedar exterior.

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds to Perform for the Dalai Lama

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will share the stage with the Dalai Lama at Seattle, WA’s Key Arena on April 11. The longtime friends are expected to perform a short acoustic set before the Dalai Lama speaks and Matthews will later join the spiritual leader and other musicians for be "an interpersonal dialogue.” According to DMB fansite Antsmarching.org, the group is expected to “discuss the role of music and building cultural bridges (among other things).” The special benefit concert is part of the five-day Seeds of Compassion event centered around the Dalai Lama's visit to Seattle. Matthews and Reynolds will also perform at Hawaii’s Kokua Festival from April 19-20.

Sweet! I saw them once too and I can say the same - definitely one of best shows ever! I keep hoping they'll add a date while I'll be on the East Coast end feb./march

but it's just hopeless dreams, heh. I hope they come back to Europe soon...they're on my top bands list right after melon!

The Indiana Democratic Primary will take place on May 6. With Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton still in a heated race for the nomination, Indiana has become an important contest. As a result, this coming weekend Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds will perform a free show "to raise awareness of Barack Obama's presidential campaign." "Change Rocks - A Very Special Evening with Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds" will take place this Sunday April 6 at 7:00 PM at Indiana University's Assembly Hall. A ticket and Indiana state ID or in-state student ID will be required for admission, which is on a first-come, first-served basis. I can't believe I found out about this only today! I knew only about Werchter cause Lilyrose told me. They didn't mention it in their newsletters, I don't get it... anyway, I'm PUMPED! I don't know yet how I'm gonna do this (money questions again, heh) but I have to!
I was trying to figure out how I'm gonna make it to Werchter but now I have to rethink this whole thing, I think some of my friends will be in too!

I believe they might announce more dates later, not sure.
