Cool, have they announced who the opening act will be? It looks like the show will be on a Tuesday which will definitely be a school night for the boys and chances are I'll probably have a class that night. I wish it was going to be either when the kids are our for the summer or on a weekend. It really sucked having to leave early from that MMW show b/c it was a weeknight. If you end up coming to the states around vigil time you should think about coming to Raleigh for the DMB show! You would definitely have a place to stay and I would skip class to come to the show with you! #dance#

I don't know who'll open for DMB in Raleigh, I doubt it's been already announced, they announced the tour dates only a few days or a week ago.

I'm glad to see another melon who's a big DMB fan! I love both, Tim&Dave and DMB but DMB even more. I got into them about two years ago and I love them more and more every day, today I could say it's my second favorite band after Blind Melon. I learned guitar much better thanks to Blind Melon cause most of their songs were harder to play comparing to others I played at that time. But Dave Matthews...I'm thinking from time to time to try and learn one of the songs but they just seem too hard and I didn't get enough courage to start yet Can you recommend me an easy DMB song for the start?

oh i can play everyy one.. an easyone is crash.. cause its mainly 1 chord aside froma couple of bass notes. but the spread for your fingers on the chord is pretty big so u have to streach your hand pretty far to get the chord right. but once u do. then u just gotta figure out the rythem and he plays it 90% of the song.. dave is def my second fav blind melon is def my first,. see the trick with dave is that he has a unique style of playing.. he mutes the strings alot but once u get it down. the songs arent that hard. i find blind melon to be harder.. also if ulook up differnt tabs for dave you will find that some tabs for the same song are differnt but sound exactly the same.. try jimi thing that one is pretty easy if u have any question please let me know ill help you out with anything u need..

Thanks for the info and suggestions! I'm not technical at all in my guitar playing so I don't know much about the technical side. I just play the way I can right when I see the chords and if it's too hard I usualy let it go #meh# Not a great way to learn, lol. The only time I really did some bigger effort was with Blind Melon songs. It surprises me that you say BM is harder than Dave, apparently it's just the feeling I get, that Dave is so hard to play? From what I saw quickly, he also uses more "unique" chords and not as much common ones as Blind Melon. I might be wrong though cause like I said, I didn't try to play Dave much...the rythm seems too hard and that's my problem with Blind Melon too.

your right on that one dave does use more unique chords.. its alot of blues stuff also.. also i dont play electric so i know how to play change and the solos but with out and effects pedal an acoustic doesnt sound the same. cause the solo is on a mandolin if im correct but i can play the acoustic part fine.. i guess if i picked up and electric i probably could..but since i stick to acoustic dave just came naturaly for me..the best song to play is lie in our graves in my opinion.. also if i play a blind melon cd ill just sit there and make up my own shit to go with the songs.. but your right thoughe about the unique chords.. see like green day there songs are all bar chords i dont wanna say all.. but alot are very similar chords.. i think that is what makes dave's acoustic shows so good ... its his originality.. but tim . he is black magic of guitar.. he doesnt play that fast. its all a delay and he has a special peddle that records what he plays then he plays over it... he does that in stream

I think I understood what's your way of playing, correct me if I'm wrong. Do you play mostly "string by string"? I'm not sure how to describe it...like more the style of a classic guitar? I play chords only, almost. I'm not good at playing string by string, I never practiced enough, not even enough to learn much more than basic chords. So maybe that's why Dave comes more naturaly to you than Blind Melon? I think the first melon song I learned was Walk. It's easy and has only the basic chrods; Am, C, G, F (I wrote them in order of playing, you skip F in some parts of the song). I played Time some time ago but now I probably forgot, I think it can sound very good on acoustic but I had problems with the rythm. If you play good I would suggest all acoustic melon songs, like Mouthful Of Cavities, Letters from a Porcupine, Hell, Skinned, Life Ain't so Shitty, All that I Need, The Pusher, Soul One...there's quite some acoustic versions of officialy released non acoustic songs like Galaxie, St. Andrew's Fall, Paper Scratcher, Soak The Sin...and they sound awesome but I don't see how I could play that, I'm really just too lazy to put more effort into it. My favorite to play is Soul One and it's also the hardest song I ever learned (but that doesn't mean it's really hard ) I'm not sure I answered my question with this long post... I have a feeling you always play tabs and not chords? Cause in this case I can't say what would be easy cause I rarely play tabs. So, I think Walk is one of the easiest songs to learn but if you prefer playing more in a classic guitar way I think Mouthful can sound awesome, or Soul One, you could pick up the string part instead of the chord part since there's two guitars in it. You gave me some motivation to try playing Dave songs

well your some what right.. but i know alot of chords i mean alot...... not just bar chords.. but your right on the fingerpicking.. im good at that.. but i can play striing bystring note by note.. if thats what u mean... i can play galaxie no rain soup and change.. but stuff like tones of home.. the guitar has so many effects that acoustic cant make.. dave is a mixture of chords and string by string for example ants marching its G 4-5 4 D 4 5 5 i cant write the string names.. but then the chorus is got A B D also lie in our graves and what would u say are all mixtures of chords and single notes... the verses i find are to be mostly note by note then the choruses are chords.....

u know what u should do just pick the first part of a dave song like jimi thing learn the first 4 notes and then when u get used to playing them then move to the next.. pretty soon youll see the song come together. and once u can play dave alot of songs become so much easier. ill go throughe my tabs and maybe ill film mylsef playing one so u can see my hands it will be like an instruction video on a dave song..
