I miss Shannon too! I don't think you have to know someone personally to miss them.

I know that we all miss Shannon. I have a drawing of him on my wall and I was looking at it the other day. It's amazing how it really captured that sparkle in his eyes. He was something special, that's for sure.
And I agree with you Mere. You don't have to know someone personally to miss them. Look at the outpouring of grief when a celebrity dies. He touched us personally because of the music. When he died, not only was he gone but Blind Melon's future (or so we thought) died and for that I was sad.

I think what bothers me the most (other than the obvious fact that he's gone) is that we'll never get to experience new Shannon lyrics. He was a beautiful poet and there is nobody who can write lyrics like he did. He really had a way with words and knew how to express his soul through his writing. It makes me sad to know that we'll never get to know more of his lyrics and insights. He was definitely a wise old soul.

I agree, not only the lyrics, but also things he said during shows and interviews. He was truly amazing, I could listen to his lyrics and words 333333333333333333 times and they would still amaze me as if it was the first time I heard them.

I love watching the shows and seeing how good he is at just making things up and getting the audience pumped up. I never get tired of the music and I wish I could have known him when he was alive.

What gets me is that we were born in the same year so we'd both be 41 right now, and I too had a bad drug problem and was in recovery the same time that he died from his addiction. Now at 41 I'm clean and sober and life is going really well for me, and I can't help but think what life would be like for him today too.

I did not know him in the physical sense but we all know he still lives on in our souls and minds..he still teaches me new things every day without even being here in the physical..he exists in so many living souls and minds there is no doubt he is alive and well #hoonsmiley#

I often find myself missing him as well.
I may be mistaken but I think we need a group hug in his memory right now:

The more & more I watch his interviews and read articles about him the guy just didn't strike me as some whacked out druggie, but I didn't know him personally of course or what went on behind closed doors. But what baffles me is that back in my addiction days there were times I did enough cocaine in one sitting to kill a freakin horse, and also smoked a ton of weed and had a few drinks all ontop of that and somehow by the grace of God here I am today. So I am starting to believe his overdose was a complete freak accident and probably had something to do with his heart failing maybe(wether he was doing drugs that night or not).

Just one of those days where I am really missing Shannon and felt like saying it out loud where people won't look at me like a freak.
