I was just wondering how many people have actually seen blind melon live ? It just seems like the majority of melonheads myself included didn't get into blind melon until they had already broke up.

I don't know if I have shared this story or not. . .
When I was a freshman in college, I saw that Blind Melon would be playing at the Glenn Miller Ballroom in Boulder, CO. I lived in a different town, and I was very poor my freshman year, so I decided I didn't have enough money to go to the show. "Oh, I'll just catch them on their next tour." is what I thought. Well, as we all know, Shannon passed away very soon after that, and I never got to see them.
I can tell you that this experience or near-experience (whatever you would call it) has impacted me greatly in my life. Seriously, I have been kicking myself in the ass for 11 years now. I often feel the strain of finances, or the lack thereof, but I do my best to not use that as an excuse of why I shouldn't do something. So now, I try to go see as many shows as I can. But the lesson that I learned wasn't specific to seeing concerts. It was a lesson that I learned about life in general.
So imagine my surprise when I heard that the band was reforming! I won't let this pass me by. I done learned my lesson! ! !

Ryan, the same thing happened to me with a Nirvana show. I thought "oh well, I'll catch them next time they come around" and we all know what happened...I still kick myself in the ass for that.

Right-on Ryan. I feel the same way. When they played at St. Andrews hall in Detroit I didn't go, and my brother did. Everytime we talk about Blind Melon he doesn't let me forget it.

I never got to see them either. My hubby and I were just starting out and dirt poor.

Wow, I guess I'm one of the fortunate ones. Let me see if I can remember each show ....
* Opening for Soundgarden, Sister Double Happiness (Columbus, Oh) * Opening for Soundgarden, Sister Double Happiness (Cleveland, Oh) * 120 Minutes Tour w/ PIL, BAD, Live (Dayton, Oh) * Headlining (Agora, Cleveland, Oh) * Headlining (West Lafeyette, Indiana) * Headlining (Newport Music Hall, Columbus, Inclined opened) * Headlining (Bogarts, Cincy, Inclined Opened) * Opening for Lenny Kravitz (Nautica, Cleveland) * Headlining (St.Andrew's Hall, Detroit) * Opening for Neil Young, Dinosaur Jr (Blossom, Cleveland) * Woodstock '94 * Headlining (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland)
I may be missing one or two. I'm pretty sure that I saw every show they ever did in Ohio in addition to the show in Detroit, West Lafeyette, and Woodstock. They were supposed to play in Cleveland, I think, on the Soup tour (I'm pretty sure that date had already been announced) when Shannon died.

Same story as most. Had the chance to see them at a small club and said I'd catch them the next time around. Also had a late invite to Woodstock, but decided smoking crack was more important. I have watched that show over and over and over and can't believe I missed Shannon freak out during Time. I'll never forgive myself for that one. Peace
