Same story as most. Had the chance to see them at a small club and said I'd catch them the next time around. Also had a late invite to Woodstock, but decided smoking crack was more important. I have watched that show over and over and over and can't believe I missed Shannon freak out during Time. I'll never forgive myself for that one. Peace Wow, you must well regret missing them twice and once on the Woodstock! This is one of my favourite shows and that Time part is just the best!!!

Never saw them live and I am not missing my chance this time, also my xboyfriend talked me out of buying tickets to this huge summer tour and sublime was playing....so I know how that feels, I passed up seeing sublime to argue with my x at some bonfire party.

Wow, I guess I'm one of the fortunate ones. Let me see if I can remember each show .... * Opening for Soundgarden, Sister Double Happiness (Columbus, Oh) * Opening for Soundgarden, Sister Double Happiness (Cleveland, Oh) * 120 Minutes Tour w/ PIL, BAD, Live (Dayton, Oh) * Headlining (Agora, Cleveland, Oh) * Headlining (West Lafeyette, Indiana) * Headlining (Newport Music Hall, Columbus, Inclined opened) * Headlining (Bogarts, Cincy, Inclined Opened) * Opening for Lenny Kravitz (Nautica, Cleveland) * Headlining (St.Andrew's Hall, Detroit) * Opening for Neil Young, Dinosaur Jr (Blossom, Cleveland) * Woodstock '94 * Headlining (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland) I may be missing one or two. I'm pretty sure that I saw every show they ever did in Ohio in addition to the show in Detroit, West Lafeyette, and Woodstock. They were supposed to play in Cleveland, I think, on the Soup tour (I'm pretty sure that date had already been announced) when Shannon died. Hey Chip, are you the Chip in the phone interview from 1991? If yes, it sounded like you and Shannon hit it off pretty well. Did the band hook you up when you saw them?

Hey Chip, are you the Chip in the phone interview from 1991? If yes, it sounded like you and Shannon hit it off pretty well. Did the band hook you up when you saw them? Same Chip Yeah, Shannon and I did it hit off. I've had the opportunity to interview hundreds of bands over the years and Shannon (and all of Blind Melon for that matter) was one of the nicest guys I ever had the chance to get to know. Shannon always went out of his way to hang out with me after shows even if he was supposed to sit around for a meet-and-greet with local radio station contest winners, record store managers, radio station people, etc. Just a quick Blind Melon story (I've got a bunch) ... the night they headlined the Newport in Columbus, the Smashing Pumpkins were playing down the street at a smaller club (by all rights, they could have easily played - and sold out - the Newport). The Pumpkins were doing a one-week small club tour to test out material from Siamese Dream which had just come out. It was supposed to be somewhat of a secret show but because I was writing for a local magazine, I had the inside scoop. I told the guys in Blind Melon about it beforehand and they said they wanted to go to the show after they were done playing. So ... after their set, I ran around to the back of the club and we jumped into a few cars and their tour van and drove about 8 blocks south. I knew the woman at the club that had booked the Pumpkins and she said she'd put me and Blind Melon on the guest list. We show up at the door and the guy asks for our IDs. I tell him we're on the list and that I'm with the guys from Blind Melon. He asks for their IDs and Shannon doesn't have his. The door guy was like "I don't think I can let you in. I mean, how do I know you're in Blind Melon?" Fortunately, I had interviewed the band and the 'zine I was writing for ... The Columbus Edge ... was distributed at this club. I picked up a copy, turned to the article, pointed to the band photo and said "See this guy in the band photo? This is the guy standing right in front of you. He just got done headlining a sold-out show at the Newport." The door guy was a bit flustered and was like, "Oh, okay. Well, I'm not supposed to let anybody in without an ID but, I guess I can let him in." Ha ha! (It was a great show by the way. The club held no more than 400 people and was packed to the gills).
