HAAAAAAAAAAAAA that's awsome. i didn't think the guys, the band that is, were ever going to do anything.
read what the people under it wrote....."i think someone from blindmelonforum.com started the petition, i think it's silly" ha whatever.
wow it almost has a thousand signatures...and i'm numero 5!
best news i've heard all week
and what album is coming out in September?

(So far I only read the article on cybersquatting...) I'll get to the others right away!
First of all, is this guy for real? Ya, he was lucky enough to get the domain name... but he really doesn't think he did anything wrong. He admits to marking up any Blind Melon merchandise for his profit, and justifies it by re-spening it on t shirts and sneakers on Amazon? And I don't know about any of you, but if I was contacted by the band that I am representing a fan website/community/whatever for, I'd be psyched to do anything they wanted if I would be helping them. Come on, wouldn't you?
He seems to think that just because the band moved on to other projects, they are not entitled to continue to use a domian with their name, their site, marketing and keeping in touch with their fans. By keeping the domain, when random people are looking for merch, etc. , his site pops up, and he's getting the profits. Wouldn't that be like saying you're good at making hambergers and advertising yourself as McDonald'sor something? (sorry veggies, that's all I could think of for this point.)
I have never been involved in any onlines stores or anything, so maybe it wasn't illegal for him to sell melon stuff.... but it was misleading.
By the way, he mentioned "Mercy" as one of the 'projects' they 'went on to do' ya think he was referring to Abandon Jalopy? ...and I don't think any of those 'projects' as he mentioned "failed" as he put it. UT rocks! as do the others.
I didn't even read all of the artlcles yet, but I don't really think this dude has much going for him, and I hope Blind Melon gets their domain back. So there. #blbl#

I was reading some of his comments and I think the people supporting him are so funny. I personally think he shouldn't have let it blow up like this...just give it to the band.
If I was asked to hand over our domain to Blind Melon I would do it in a heartbeat, no questions asked.

I'm all supportive of the petition, but if i t doesn't work I don't think that's an excuse not to make the website.

so i read it now. the guy and his friends are making a big deal out of it. the guy wasn't making that much money off the site but he was making enough. i agree that $500 was a small offer but these guys think the remaining band members are rolling in cash, give me a break, they refer to them half a dozen times as "corporate assholes."

It was almost laughable to read some of those comments. Here's a quote from one of those idiot's comments:
"haha these melon fans are crazy.. personally i prefer water melon or mangos"

I took a screen capture from Mark's blog just for posterity. I think the fact that he made financial gains (however small) from using their name will be the nail in the coffin for this issue.

Hi everyone, All I can say is what an ass. I think it is total BS that this guy will not honor the band's request. And like Gelfling said, if it were my site I would not hesitate to give it to them for FREE. It would be an honor to do so! I mean damn, it IS THEIR band name & represents all that they accomplished & gave to the world & us "crazy fans". And to make a profit?? Of any kind off of it/them & then act that way?? That is just f'ing ridiculous! Well I don't usually get pissed unless it's something that matters to me so I am sorry for venting. Rrrrrrgg! Guess I had better get back to work now but keep signing everyone & get this domain into the RIGHT hands! Have a great Melon filled day all of you "crazy fans"!

and what album is coming out in September? If I had to guess, I would say the re-release of the Palace CD.
