I don't think they have an official release date yet for the Tribute Album. I think I read that they were going to shoot for an August release... and that's right around the corner now!

Could it mean the Tribute Album? No...that has nothing to do with them. That's an Non-Profit indie release. Rogers told us all that they were re-releasing "Live at the Palace" this fall. |

I wish I had an answer for why he's like that. I can't imagine any fan not wanting to help the band that they claim to be a fan of. It's surreal. But it's obvious to see that he never really liked Blind Melon that much if he is saying that he'll turn his website into a fruit store. Go ahead Mark - we're all so frightened.  Charles' website has beat Mark's website in every way, so I'm not too concerned if Mark does turn it into a fruit store. He will end up with nothing, when he could have had at least $500 and getting to know the band better by doing them a favor. Oh well, that ship has sailed. . . |

Yeah way to fucking drop the subject when you run out of excuses Mark.
I think it became pretty obvious to everyone that he is not and was never a fan... He says he didn't make money but that's the only reason I could think of anyone not giving up a site about a band they don't care about. Either that or he's just a huge asshole and trying to make everyone's life miserable just for the heck of it. GRRRRRRRR
Matt, that's not the same Mark. Like I said this Mark is NOT a fan, and would never come up with the idea or get involved with something so cool. Plus, this Mark lives in Kuwait, and the other Mark in New Zealand (I think). But yeah this was brought up before and it's not the same guy.. Thank God.. imagine all you guys having to deal with this fuck for that to?

Mark? I haven't seen the site down yet. The only thing I saw was a lame intro page.. But it lead to the same thing we've seen for the last 5000 years.

That Mark makes me so pissed off, He's just being selfish and abit rude to boot. He says they have a site www.blindmelonmusic.com , why do they want mine, because you have nothing to do with the band, you don't update anything on it and and you're trying to make a profit on the merch. Making money on 5 other guys hard work, sweat , and souls. Then some douchebag says, those melonheads are crazy, we might hold our band with high reguard and admiration, something Mark has none of and know idea what is. |

Ok guys, at the risk of being burnt at the stake I feel I must defend Mark to some degree.
I have a different persepective here, I knew the guy relatively well from the years I signed his board and talked to him a few times and considered him a friend.
I must first state clearly that I am not defending his position on BlindMelon.com, if that was my site I would have given it back to the band asap especially since it was not being updated or used...
But I am defending him as a person, which will make me unpopular I'm sure but I feel that only one side of the story is being portrayed here and no one is here to defend or explain Mark's point of view.
I'll start with my experience of Mark...
I started posting on his message board at Blindmelon.com in 2002. This literally changed my life, I met all the wonderful melon friends I still have today, learnt a lot about melon and really felt connected with the fans that signed. For the first few years everything was awesome and Mark was a relatively active member of the board for a while, but even when he wasn't he would always give help and assistance wherever needed and offererd linking and hosting to his site for any melon that wanted (for the lack of the technical name of that...).
Then in 2004 I believe it was, he asked us about how we all felt about getting a new site going. He knew that his site was outdated and wanted to breathe some new life into it. The format, the messageboard, everything was to be different. and he spent a lot of time designing it. Now as there was no "new news" on the band for obvious reasons he had some of us running blogs, about our melon experience or anything we liked. Rogers also had blogs on it.
There was a LOT of arguing about the new site. Some Loved it, others Hated it and wanted the old site back. But it was irrefutable that new melons found this site, and more people were signing the board and being connected. Many of you here today started on his board.
Now I was in the States for the Vigil at the time that really bad things went down so I'm not one hundred per cent sure what happened...but I believe someone got offended with Mark editing or deleting offensive posts and an all-out bloody war started.
and that was that...he switched it back to the old style site but the problems were already too extensive and the damage was done.
But I want everyone to know one thing...I am not saying this whole business with the doman name is RIGHT.
But I don't think people should be judging whether or not he was Ever a fan of Blind Melon.
He put a lot of time and effort into that old site when people were using it. and he said himself he never made a profit from directing people to Amazon, it cost more to keep that site than he ever got back.
No one here knows him well enough to Judge whether or not he is a good person, based on one bad experience with him.
We have all done things that haven't been ethically "Right" but it does not make us evil people on a whole. I personally know (as many of you will) what it is like to be judged upon One bad act we have committed.
This may put me in the eyes of some of you as "against" Blind Melon and their position on the site. I am Not "for" or "against" anyone. I just want my fellow melons to try and be a little more tolerant and understanding and forgiving and stop throwing around nasty insults directed at someone you don't know much about.
I am comfortable enough in my skin and as a Blind Melon fan to speak my point of view even though it may go against all of you. I don't think that this makes me any less of a fan, I have been a huge melon fan for 13 years and always will be.
Just remember this, Mark did maintain and moniter that site for Years. He put a lot of work into it and it was his "baby". The reasons it died I don't feel were his fault entirely.
I agree since he doesn't update it he should give it back, but remember it was his site for years, he is attached to it and I don't believe he is doing all of this just to be an arsehole. No one is really in a position to judge his personality based on this decision...no one has walked in his shoes or lived life through his eyes and no one can see why he is doing this.
Including me, but I am willing to say that he is a good person despite this decision and I Know he was (if not still is) a Huge melon fan who once did a Lot of good in the melon community. and maybe that's hard for him to let go of.
I admire all of your dedication and loyalty to what you believe, you may not agree with me but I am just here to tell a different side of the story.
Whatever lil shady patch of ground we stand on we are all melons. I don't want to isolate myself as the "baddie" here but I also need to speak up where I see fit.
I must add, I have not spoken to Mark in a year or so now. I am not doing this because he asked or even because we have discussed it. We have not and I doubt we ever will.
I have emailed him telling him that if it were me I would give it back to the band. But that is up to him.
I know you guys will have a lot to say about this. I have risked a lot in posting this and I hope you can respect my point of view as I respect yours. I care about all my fellow melon fans and don't believe I am "above or below" anyone. We all have a right to our own opinions.
