I know what you mean Gelf. I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose a child...I have two little boys and I can't bear the thought of ever losing one of them. Nel shouldn't worry that anyone will ever forget Shannon...he has impacted so many people's lives in such an incredible way! I hope that the reunion reminds people about Shannon and how special he was. I hope that Nel notices even more people reconnecting with Shannon's message after the new Blind Melon releases material.

I agree with the sentiment that others have expressed-- I think that the band keeping the name Blind Melon is just about the biggest tribute the guys could pay to Shannon's memory. He was a huge part of what the band was and is, and it's so beautiful to see that it's all carrying on today. There's nothing like a mother's love, and my heart goes out to Nel missing her boy... I hope that she's aware of just how much we all respect her AND her son, and that no one is trying to take anything away from his work by carrying in into the future. If anything, I think that the fact that they are carrying it forward is a huge show of that respect-- that we all love it so much that we can't bear to see it end. No one's being replaced; it's just the passing of the torch from its fallen bearer to another soul who can continue the journey.

Yes, I hope that too. Shannon will never ever be forgotten and will always stay special to all melons, continuing touching our lives, nothing can take that away, he has done too much for us. I'm forever greatful to him giving me something so special.

Do you think we should show this thread to Nel? Maybe it could help...and make her see how Shannon will be forever immensely loved.

I don't know her personally, but I think it would almost HAVE to warm her heart to see how much we all care.

Alright, I know i'm gonna get "hated-on" for saying this but it's just my opinion. Nel's pain is coming from a very personal place, a place that most of us have never and will never face. Now I mean no disrespect to her, whatsoever, but if she doesn't want them to keep the name "Blind Melon" then maybe she's letting that pain cloud her judgement. Blind Melon was five musicians, and one of those musicians made a fatal mistake. Why should one mistake ruin it for the other four. I didn't know Shannon, and never met him. But I would like to think that he's somewhere saying "rock on guys." I don't think he's saying "don't use the name Blind Melon." You'd think he'd be happy that they're carrying on with his legacy, as well as adding to that legacy. I have nothing but mad respect for Nel. But i think she's wrong if she really doesn't want them to carry on as Blind Melon. Cause I think Shannon would. WORD!

But i think she's wrong if she really doesn't want them to carry on as Blind Melon. Cause I think Shannon would. WORD! OMG. OMG. Don't speculate what Nel feels or would feel or how Shannon would feel either please. If Nel wants people to know what she thinks she will tell them, believe me. No, you didn't know Shannon and neither did I but I can tell you one thing -- I have two sons myself. If I ever lost one of them, I would feel like I may as well be dead also. A mother should not ever be EXPECTED to NOT let her pain cloud over anything and everything if she loses a child. There is no stronger bond than the one between a mother and her child. A mother would give her life for her child without a second of thought about it. Nothing is rational if you've lost a child. NOTHING IN THE WORLD. How can anything make sense after that? It can't because it's not supposed to happen. And don't be throwing blame on people for what happened because just maybe there are things about the situation nobody's aware of -- and it's none of our business either. It highly bothers me to see people speculate about such personal thoughts and/or feelings on this topic. Nel is a strong woman and she's not afraid to say what she thinks. Whatever she feels about this she will let people know. But I'll tell you one thing and that's that she's ill right now and her recovery is to be her main focus.

Firstly: Blind Melon was five musicians, and one of those musicians made a fatal mistake. Why should one mistake ruin it for the other four. Sorry, but how the fuck can you say that?? Shannon was a mistake? He RUINED it for ther other members? ? I don't understand what you must be thinking. Secondly:Are you lot serious that you actually want to CHANGE Nels mind about how she feels about this??? I mean its been said, alot of us NEVER have and NEVER will feel her sort of pain, and we want to CHANGE how she feels about it??? Whaaaaaaaaat planet are you lot on??? It's like you're all in la la land.I'm not saying i know how she feels about it because i DON'T. However, being able to empathise, i personally would feel SICK to my mouth at this point. You can "hate on me" for this if you want, or whatever. I just think that ... in my opinion i have NO respect left for the remaining members of the band. I think they could have at least had the decency to pick a different name for themselves. YES they have a right to use the name "blind melon" BUT they also have the POWER not to. Of all the names they could have chosen. That on its own shows disrepect in my eyes. I've said it before i'm not saying it all again. I'm just honestly SHOCKED that you would want to show this thread to Nel Hoon. HOW DO YOU THINK SHE WILL FEEL IF SHE READ THAT SHANNON WAS A MISTAKE AND HE RUINED IT FOR THE OTHER MEMBERS, OR THAT YOU ALL HOPE SHE CHANGES HER MIND ABOUT THE WAY SHE FEELS?? Just think about it for a minute Okay, im not in a position to have a go at anyone, But i figure we're all mature enough here to express our opinons and i'm not going at anyone personally, so lets not make this a personal thing yeah? I dont know about you.... But this is giving me a headache.

This isn't something she needs to even be thinking about. I was only thinking about it and IF I ever would (but don't worry, I won't) it would be MUCH later when she'd be alright. Anyways, I hope you all know that Nel is alright now with them keeping the name. Bums, about why we whished she would change her mind...it's not a judgement or anything towards her in case that's what you meant. And it's NOT like we (or at least I) think she SHOULD change her mind. It was ONLY because if she's alright with it, it means she feels BETTER about it and if she feels better we're all happy for it! Happy that this is not something making her feel sad especialy now when she needs nothing but good vibes! Firstly: Blind Melon was five musicians, and one of those musicians made a fatal mistake. Why should one mistake ruin it for the other four. Sorry, but how the fuck can you say that?? Shannon was a mistake? He RUINED it for ther other members? ? I can't speak for linwoodlarsons but what I understand from his post is that he didn't want to say that Shannon was a mistake, Shannon MADE a mistake which in my opinion, he did. Again, I don't want this to sound like a judgement, we all LOVE Shannon here and besides being sad about the fact he's not here any more, it also makes me angry he let this side of him win and kill him. It's just how I feel, I know a lot of us feel that way sometimes and it's because we love who he was and wish he'd never took his last shot. I'm really sorry I started this whole thing. I realised soon after it that it wasn't a good thing to mention here and I didn't expect it will go on and turn into discussing about it. I didn't think enough before posting. Sorry.
