I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me but if blind melon releases an album and starts touring next year then blind melon might perform at vigilstock 07 #blindmelon_01# man if that happens I swear I won't eat for days and hitchhike there even if it takes me days to do it #tongue#

OOhhhhhhhhhh! I don't know how I didn't think about that!!! I was thinking how I'd go to the vigil and if they'll be touring at that moment, go on a few shows and all that! But it didn't cross my mind they could play on vigilstock! Wow!
But if they'll keep the name I don't think it will happen. Nel isn't feeling good about it, unless if she sees it from a differen point of view by then.

Yeah I agree with Barb... While it would be AWESOME to see melon live with all my beautiful melonheads, it IS a tribute show to Shannon and not Blind Melon, so unless they approach it as paying tribute to their brother then it probably wont happen. But who knows what the future brings, right? Maybe we can just rent a bus and roadtrip around the country following them Whaddaya say Barb?

Maybe we can just rent a bus and roadtrip around the country following them Whaddaya say Barb? Hey, didn't I already say that?! But really I mean it, I'd LOVE to that! Ok, I know, everyone would love it probably, lol. But I'm still thinking how they should be still touring in september or around then. I HOPE they will! The plane ticket isn't cheap for me at all so once I have one, I want to get everything I can. Go to the vigil and the shows, travel the States. And a roadtrip would be just perfect for it! I could see Blind Melon and visit the States at the same time! I have no more whishes then! haha! Actualy this is my biggest dream right now.

Yeah I agree with Barb... I would think that the orginal band of all people would (except his family of course) understand that the vigilstock is about a tribute to shannon and would try their best to have everybody understand this. It just seems like it might bring more people together to celebrate his life, after all right after the news that the band was getting back together our member count starting going up 1-2 members or so

Have I missed something? did nel say something like she was against blind melon getting back together? Yeah, well I don't know if it was good that I said that here actualy, I didn't think much about it when I posted it. As far as I know, Nel is ok with the band getting back together, it just hurts her if they'll keep the name and everything seems like they will.

Alright, I know i'm gonna get "hated-on" for saying this but it's just my opinion. Nel's pain is coming from a very personal place, a place that most of us have never and will never face. Now I mean no disrespect to her, whatsoever, but if she doesn't want them to keep the name "Blind Melon" then maybe she's letting that pain cloud her judgement. Blind Melon was five musicians, and one of those musicians made a fatal mistake. Why should one mistake ruin it for the other four. I didn't know Shannon, and never met him. But I would like to think that he's somewhere saying "rock on guys." I don't think he's saying "don't use the name Blind Melon." You'd think he'd be happy that they're carrying on with his legacy, as well as adding to that legacy. I have nothing but mad respect for Nel. But i think she's wrong if she really doesn't want them to carry on as Blind Melon. Cause I think Shannon would.

Hey linwoodlarsons, you're not gonna get hated on, at least not by me because you were so polite and simply expressed your opinion. Wish everyone could be that mature! Anyway, here's what I think. I never quite expressed my opinions on how I really feel about the band getting back together... But basically I dont care what name they use, I'll still be supporting them. However Shannon was a huuuuuuuuuge reason BM became such a big part of my life and while I know Travis is going to do a great job, it's probably not going to feel like "someone's pouring warm gravy all over me". There was something about Shannon's lyrics and voice that seriously changed me, Im a different person from before I started listening to them, a better one. At the same time, I know that seeing the boys together again and creating new music will be wonderful, and yes I agree, I think Shannon is thinking "rock on". But I can see why Nel is hurt, I mean Blind Melon was her son's life and now he is dead and Blind Melon is moving on, I'm sure even the guys are hurt about going on without Shannon, so that's probably why they gave it so much thought. I dont know, just my opinion. Like you said, she's at a very personal place that most of us will never face... I think this should be between her and the band, you know?

I agree with linwood and Gabbee...from what I know the band has been very respectful to Nel concerning the reunion. I think that it's ultimately up to the band members what they choose to call themselves. I trust that they have put a lot of thought and consideration into their decision and I'm supporting whatever they choose to do. It was their band and it's their lives...they worked hard...extremely hard...to make a name for themselves and I feel that we should accept and respect their name choice. They knew Shannon better than pretty much anyone and I don't think they would choose to keep the name Blind Melon if they thought it was disrespectful to Shannon and his legacy.

I can see this from both sides, but having had the opportunity to meet Nel at the vigil the this year and witness first hand how passionate she is about remembering him, his legacy, and meeting all the people he touched...if she is having mixed emotions about this I hope she will eventually come to see it as a continuation of his legacy.

Larsons, I agree with Gabbee, you said that in a good way and I agree with you. I just think how I don't know what it means to have kids and to lose one and I understand that Nel isn't feeling good about it. But as you and pinutsinapile said, I also hope she sees it from another perspective one day. We don't know the exact reasons why they're keeping the name but we can be sure that it's not in dishonnor to Shannon. They were his best friends, knew him best and made their dreams come true all together. I can't know that, but I would say that of all Shannon's friends, Chris, Rogers, Glen and Brad are the ones who miss him the most and have biggest respect for him. And like pinutsinapile said in the other thread: And I feel like i know for sure that is shannon was turning in his grave about anything is that he caused the death of the musical family he helped create. I'm sure Shannon would be happy that they can finaly move on. 11 years have past before they finaly felt the right thing when they're playing all together again! Isn't that enough?! I just really hope that Nel can see it the way most of us do one day, and that the Blind Melon reunion isn't about disrespect for Shannon, it's about playing music together again and keeping Shannon close to their hearts, no matter the name they use.

It would be really nice if Nell were to read this thread. Maybe it would help her change her mind. I would like to think so. I think it would be "icing on the cake" if she would get behind this reunion, name and all.

I can respect Nel for feeling the way she does, put yourself in her shoes for just a second and its easy to understand. I just hope she knows that Shannon will never ever be forgotten, he was one in a million.
