foreverlights - you need to listen to Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr, Pixies and Melvins. Kurt Cobain didn't start grunge. A lot of bands didn't copy him, he copied a lot of them... I will admit a lot of bands got more recognition after his band broke... The media invented grunge, they also killed it... that was a shame.. Nirvana is one of my faves BTW

I Wonder.
Before "For My Friends" came out, the band were saying that they had recorded two albums worth of material...... Will we ever hear these songs with Travis on vocals? Or AT ALL?

I still think Chris Shinn FTW
(If I was in the USA going to that new years show, I'd make a shirt outta that!)
.....or maybe they could get that singer from Blitzen Trapper...that might work! (heheh).

Im still keen!!! Mainly for the sound! I KNOW the masters have to sound better than the overcompressed "Ok" sounding cd we got.... At least on vinyl we wont get that "everything louder than everything else" method of mastering.... Its a great album, and the music shines through the mastering issues though (like the latest dinosaur jr album, which sounds quite nasty)... so its still ok.... Also, there is a review on the net that says that the cover belongs on an lp sleeve

i have soup, s/t, FMF, classic masters, the abandon jalopy and the two unified theory albums on the media center at work Havent had any comments about melon though .. but it brightens up my day when their music comes on..! I have had people ask "who is this" when Soundgarden and Blitzen Trapper have come on though.... Unfortunately the other people at work have their nickelback, jet and newton falkner ? cds on there too... I have the power to turn the sound off out the back (where I work) when that comes on!

^^ That would be kind of cool from a collectors point of view... But wouldnt really do much for the sound quality... Going from a cd copy to an lp would give you an exact sound copy of the cd (maybe a little less, depending on the process).
What would be really neat would be a "For my friends" mastered to vinyl from the original masters... This way we could bypass that rediculous dynamic range compression, and get a nice full sounding album :0) (Which is what the cd should have been)..
I wonder if the band has seen what has become of their waveforms? Or listened critically to the commercial release?

I know this is just a dream, with a not very high chance of coming to light.... .
So, I just wanted to let the band know that I'm not demanding this from them, or expecting it... I dont want them to read this thread and think "Sheeesh, we get the band back together, play some gigs and even release a new album, bundled with heaps of stuff, and launch a store for more merch...and these melonheads are demanding vinyl? What's next?!"

I tried and tried to win that auction! I was hoping to "liberate" it with a good quality transfer to FLAC, on the net.... My maximum bit was $120 USD, sadly my plan was not to bee..

Would I like vinyl? Well hell yes indeed! A SH mastered vinyl? That would be a dream come true...! The big question is, how would you get it done? His master of Icky Thump is incredible, probably the best bass drum I have heard on an lp EVER!.. I also picked up the new Wisely album mastered by him.... .amazing.. Not to mention his work on the dcc doors and metallica albums (amongst others). Heh, I guess you could count me in as a fan of his work. Mmm, I think the only way we'll get a vinyl release is if enough people on this forum pre order (pay upfront), i'm guessing we'll have to do a run of a few thousand.... I'm no expert on these things, but I'd order 5 copies if it would help..... To have nico as well would be excellent too

AMEN BUZZCAT ! I can totally relate to your post... I am so sick of this rubbish brickwalled mastering.. The album is so good too, it really has potential to sound brilliant.. The band have obviously spent time in the studio to make it sound the best they can.. THEN when it comes to the mastering, it gets ruined... I said pretty much the same thing in my post (back on page one or two), this album sounds TERRIBLE at any decent volume in my HIFI.. It only sounds good in the car, or on the shitty headphones on my computer.. (I was hoping that it was just the mp3s sounding like this, but you have the cd already, and it sounds the same... im pretty bummed about that).. I would buy the album again, if they tone down the hot mastering..... That said... I love this album! Father Time is still the best IMO.. Harmful, Pharmacy, Wishing Well, For My Friends, Sometimes being close seconds!! The only one I cant get into (yet) is Cheatum St... I have had it on repeat in my car since I got it... It's a solid effort and a great comeback! Bring on the vinyl! (please!) Oh and the only other instance of the shit word is on "Soak the sin" (I Think).....! "... this is the good shit, so come on y'all and eat a little bit"

Chad Kroeger .. WTF? WTF??? WTF??? Travis sounds nothing like Chad Kroeger (Thank God!) BM sound nothing like Nicklefuck... (Thank God, thank everything for that!!) Nickleback (along with Limp Biscuit) are the two worst bands in the world... I never thought I'd see BM compared to them! Woeful review... Sounds like the reviewer needed an excuse to write a bunch of bullshit... Then popped in the new melon album, skipped through the first 20 seconds of each track.. The posted it to his bog.
