I listened through my hi fi first (unfortunately it didnt sound too good, a bit compressed too crispy.. everything just mushed together...though I am listening to the mp3s from the bundle..hopefully the cd is better).. BUT WHAT THE HELL...ITS A NEW BM ALBUM! :0)! I listened through some headphones next, a little better (I guess Mp3's are designed for these), this album is fucking fantastic..... .. I already have my favourites! Father Time sounds great on headphones ! Just finished listening again, this is going to be on repeat for a long, long time... the music is great.... it's more than I expected... Cant wait to finally get the cd copy! Everyone plays their hearts out on this album, sometimes you get so lost in their music that you forget how talented they really are.... There is no way another band can replicate the BM sound... I cant pick a favourite instrument or player in the band.... it just sounds so good together.... I guess that's what Blind Melon is about .. "Blind Melon is a band......" I hope they stick around for many more albums to come... Thank You.

Cant wait to get the cd and play it in all its full sounding glory (The 160k Mp3's will definitely keep me going until then)... I wish I was in the states, so I could see these songs (and the others, of course) live.... Come to Australia....!

Oh man.... this is awesome.. just downloaded it... on my second listen now... I am so grateful for you guys getting back together, and to Travis for helping them continue.... This record is amazing..... :0) The rhythm is as tight at always, the layers of melon guitars are excellent...... the backing vocals are perfect..... The lead Vox are incredible...... (I feel sorry for the people who wont listen to Blind Melon (Mach 2)... they are really missing out). The songs I have had in my car for the last 5 months or so (that I ripped off of myspace haha!) COME TO LIFE!!!! This disc wont be leaving my stereo(s) for a long, long time (just like soup)... Im so happy emotional right now..... thank you very much You guys are back........ *Edit.....* - remember shutting off one channel on the debut to hear vocals only on "Change"? You can do it with "Harmful Belly" cool outer space sounding vocals at the start It's like an old friend has returned........

www.musicdirect.com (wide range of both common domestic vinyl, boutique re-issues, and imports) www.vvinyl.com (can be dear, but the sometimes throw rare promo vinyls in with purchases)! www.ebay.com.au (good for new, sealed vinyl.. look for feedback when buying 2nd hand). www.chaosmusic.com.au (Australian website, has a vinyl section) www.hmv.co.uk (most new releases are found on vinyl here). www.becausesoundmatters.com (mainly Warner releases, site still being worked on, and added to). Chances are, if you are looking for an album and it isn't on vinyl on any of these sites, it may be a cd or (UGH) itunes only release. I cant believe MP3 is becoming the dominant format... jeebus, people seem satisfied going backwards in sound quality and overall experience... sure ipods are good for travelling or jogging.. but who wants to sit around an ipod dock with friends and listen to an album.... No liner notes or artwork, and if your hard drive dies,, thats it...! Nuts to that!

Cool thread idea... I love my vinyl collection.... I used to buy all of my albums on lp starting from when I was about 6 :0)... unfortunately vinyl all but dissapeared at the start of the 90s (in Australian stores anyway)... and disappeared underground for most of the decade (or so I thought!). It wasnt until I got the internet in the mid to late 90's that I realised that in the US and UK it still had a good following... I went mad on ebay, buying a lot of stuff that was released as it came on on LP .. (gotta love disposable income while you are at school!). I picked up a few gems back then, that later turned out to be worth quite a bit (Tool Aenima, Jeff Buckley grace, sin-e and sketches). I bought a fairly high end TT a few years ago, and putting some of these albums on, is like hearing them for the first time again... I'm finding a lot of the lp's blow away the cd in terms of sound quality (better soundstage, more dynamics)... Vinyl re-issues of some of my favourite albums have me listening to songs that I thought I had worn out.. The Euorpean re-issues of Nirvana nevermind, In Utero (which uses the Steve Albini mix for the first time) and unplugged sound incredible! As do the "becausesoundmatters.com" pressings of the Built to Spill albums, ("You In Reverse" on cd sounds simply awful....) and Radiohead. If anyone is still interested, and I dont know if any of you have discovered this yourselves, but there is a rotten trend in cd mastering to make the disc as LOUD AS POSSIBLE (known as the loudness wars), this brings to the table all kinds of issues that were never present before, ever notice an awful distored sound on RHCP Californication album? Or feel that even though the music is good on that SSPU album you get the urge to turn it down, (or off after 20 mins or so)... thats because of this trend.. Fortuately the effects of this arent as severe (though sometimes it is still there) on the lp format... and that is why the lp almost always sounds better than the cd... :0) I do hope the new melon album comes out on lp..... but it doesnt look likely.. Oh heck... im rambling again..... got any good sarsparella?? The Loudness war (explained better than me) on youtube..

Umm,, it is actually easier to get vinyl than it ever has been in the last decade at the moment. I HOPE THiS GETS A VINYL RELEASE. I have the first two on vinyl, and SOUP in particular kills the cd in sound quality. Last year, 90% of my new music purchases were on vinyl, Dinosaur Jr, White Stripes, Silversun Pickups, Spoon, Built to Spill - all their latest albums! In ALL cases (especially White Stripes and Built to Spill) the vinyl owned over the cd. It's in the mastering, and the fact that you cant compress the dynamic range to make the cd LOUD as much on vinyl, as you can on cd.... This mastering trend has ruined many albums for me over the last 5 years... Louder is not better. Vinyl is still valid, and actually on the rise again It's great! I have hunted around the net, but havent read anything about the new album on vinyl... BUT hopefully a boutique label will pick it up and release in on the format.

I believe that was a legit item...... I remember a while ago chaosmusic.com.au had them for sale...they were $50 so I never bought one...
Its a promotional item, kind of like the glass jar with plastic flies that alice in chains had at one stage....
I wonder if the band know much about it..
