They really are a cool band.. I saw them in Brisbane some time last year, and they put on a great show.. All of the guys in the band sing and have great voices, good songwriting and they can rock out when they want too! I don't usually recommend bands on other bands websites, the only reason I posted the "Wild Mountain Nation" clip was because I was having a little bit of fun with the "Sounds Like Shannon" thread. Glad you all like them!

Here's a really cool video of a collection of photos from someone who was at Woodstock 94, obviously they were/are a melon fan, as there are a few photos of Melon playing towards the end of the video.. I know we have plenty of professional photos and pro shot video of their set at Woodstock, but something about these photos makes you feel closer to the event.. Enjoy

I bailed on +Live+ after Secret Samadhi, the main reason? Ed's lyrics, he became very self indulgent and preachy. I'm definitely back on board now! Chris Shinn is one of my favourite singers, and a great songwriter!

Anyone else think this could fit seamlessly onto an Abandon Jalopy album?

I think it would be amazing if Capitol would reissue the first album as a deluxe with a bonus CD that includes all the Sippin' Time Sessions content. I know that'd also be up to the band but it's just an idea... or to see a Soup reissue with some of the extras like "Frosting a Cake" and "Ever Had the Feeling" that were never released. I'm still waiting to hear that acoustic "Vernie" that was mentioned in the Devil/Angel book!! I'm sure there are hidden treasures out there that we have not heard and I'm hoping since the next few years will be an anniversary of sorts for Melon there will be something in the works. To reissue the vinyls would be a HUGE draw because people are always looking for them on eBay and why should $100-$200 go to some random person instead of the band? I don't really know how all this works in terms of legal stuff and the band's relationship with Capitol so I'm really talking out of my ass but these are all just thoughts I'd have lately. I'm totally with you on all of your thoughts! I'd especially love to see 'Nico' on vinyl I have UK and US copies of S/T and Soup (and an asian press of the S/T also. As well as the Tones 12" and No Rain 7" yellow press.. Nico never saw a release on the format. Bring on deluxe issues!!

Whatever you do, DON'T play it on one of those USB turntables..... The styli are usually very cheap, and the sound quality is awful. See if you can hook up with a studio (maybe Brad can help? You need a place like what is shown in the newish "Pressing the Record" Abandon Jalopy clip) and get them to transfer it (hopefully) to high res digital. That would be the way to go, played back on the proper gear, will preserve the life of the acetate and give you the best sound quality. ....I wouldn't even play records from my own collection on the majority of one of those USB turntables, unless it was one from a respected brand. I know 'Project' make one. Even then, it would be best not to play the acetate on one..

Well done! I've only ever seen another one of these once on ebay before (and I've been searching "Blind Melon" into ebay.com.au and ebay.com at least once a fortnight for about 13 years now What a score! Would be awesome if you could find a place to play it (and make a high res dub of it at the same time).. I'd love to hear "Mother" (one of my favourite Melon songs) with master quality! Pretty sure you have the rarest Blind Melon item there is (aside from Shannons Galaxie )...

I'm pretty sure I know that shirt. I didn't have the bee girl on the front, but it has that psychadelic image of what I can only describe as "Blue Meanie (the characters from the Beatles Yellow Submarine, not the mushroom)" looking things on the front (two of them), with a green arrow above them.. I think the band used the image to influence the backdrop for the 2007/2008 'reunion' tour with travis.. They pop up on Ebay every so often! Edit, I found a picture Uploaded with ImageShack.usI believe promo shirts for "Soup" (and it's tour) were the last Melon Shirts from the Hoon era. I don't believe any were printed up in 1996 (from what I've seen anyway). The font/logo on the back of the shirt you posted returned (albeit smaller) for a shirt after the reunion, I have one.. Same writing, but smaller, with a credit card sized image of the same thing printed on the front left (where a pocket would usually bee). It's also used as a logo at the top of this page! I thought that was really cool how they dipped into the past going forward!

I've been digging Ane Bruns latest.. www.amazon.com/All-Starts-One-Ane-Brun/dp/B0058HDHIC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322626300&sr=8-1An excellent album, kind of a folky Sinead O' Connor. Mellow but extremely effective, well written and produced album.. Here's the single "Do You Remember?" for a taste.. I bought this and the new Kate Bush album on the same day, and I'm digging this far more than the Kate, (which I still love, I'm a big fan of Kate Bush). Hope you dig it!

20 Years ago, one of the greatest frontmen of all time left this world....
Time just flies doesn't it? Although young, I still remember the day (and the bitchin' tribute concert that came later).
There will never be another Freddie, and there will never be another band like Queen.
R.I.P.

Also, what was in the digi-pak of the ST album? Here's a scan of my poor old digipak, it's showing its age but everything still works!

Just thought I'd drop in and say how awesome it is that Aussie melonheads are heading over there! Have a blast! Wish you were next!!!!! That would be awesome Gabbee, but I'm too tied down these days (got a house and mortgage), maybe vigilstock 2030? ~~ Just thinking, it's been over a decade since the old "Melon Patch" time flies eh? I still remember that, the old BM official page, chicken heads, yahoo chat (with dodgy voice over 33.6kbps modems, and not to abbreviate the word "Computer" when talking to someone who speaks Portugese LOL! ~~ P.S. - Where did Emma go? P.P.S. - Sorry to hijack the thread fellow Aussie melon!

I'd love a big deluxe edition (like the latest Nirvana box, (though with better not as loud mastering), but that probably won't happen.. .But I can dream! I'd love to see becausemusicmatters re-issue all the melon on vinyl (including nico for the first time on LP) from the original master tapes with good mastering (like their work on the Neil Young greatest hits disc, holy amazing sound batman)!
Sadly, these days remastered usually means LOUDER and nothing else... Unremastered for me a good 90% of the time, but bonus stuff is where it's at..
Heck, they could even re-issue the digipak of the first album for those who missed out!

Awesome tune I like it fine as it is (no lyrics), but it would be cool if there was a demo somewhere with words! Anyone know how much unreleased UNHEARD songs exist in vaults?
