Fuck yes, feelinggiddy. Couldn't have said it better myself. And thank you for doing it with class. Seriously, who's this TripRock douchebag with the post about puking in Travis' face? Very classy. You are the reason I have to avoid the forum - the idiocy of some of this shit you people come up with makes my blood boil. I'll have to resort to relying on the band's myspace for updates - this forum is no longer a place I'm proud to be a part of. No offense Sonya, Gabby, Barb, Matt, Ryan & Mere - you all do a wonderful job - I know you have no control over what people choose to "contribute" to the forum. And you all know I love you!
Peace.

There is nothing wrong with having shown full support of one singer who the band had tapped to step in when they needed help.
I don't get a vote in the matter, but it's similar to the US election. As a Canadian, I didn't get a vote, but there were alot of us who showed full support of Obama.
The difference is knowing there's a fine line between saying it with respect to all involved and being a douchebag about it.
With that said, I don't think the support Chris was shown was in any way meant to start a flame war. Nor was it a competition with Travis...he was no longer in the picture.
It's all about perspective. Be good to each other.

It sickens me to see some of the things I am reading on here. For one, Travis is a poor man's Hoon.
To hear Roger say that about Chris making Blind Melon sound like another Unified Theory?!?! Is that a BAD thing?!?! It's certainly better than the last B.M. cd, which sounded okay at best. Travis' vocals and emotions sounded "forced" to me and not genuine.
Chris Shinn, however, is indeed a Diamond of a talent. Too bad that Blind Melon as a whole cannot agree on this. He could lead you all back to the top, yet it appears that mediocrity (at best) is now to rule the roost?!?!?! Sorry to come off as negative, but I think I speak for the silent majority when I say you are blowing this opportunity BIG TIME.
And if alienating your fans is a concern, going retro to a lesser "talent" in Travis is a nice way to go. Sorry if it makes you all feel better, but Blind melon Version 2 sucked in my humble opinion. You have a chance to get it right and well...I personally will look forward to a new EVERYTHING IS ENERGY or possibly UNIFIED THEORY cd and listen to my old BLIND MELON cd's and dvd's before I ever subscribe to B.M. version 2 revisited. Sorry, that's just how I feel and I am not going to candy coat it.
That being said, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, but I will not be subscribing to it. It feels and sounds fake with Travis. Not quite sure what people see in him, but I don't feel it.

keep cool Rogers didn't say anything bad about Chris Shinn. The band members should never have to justify their decision, they have right to chose whoever they want as a new singer. We are fans, we support them but that's it... we are not the band.

I REALLY hate to say this but it's all becoming a big joke. I could accept the reincarnation of BM with Travis because it seemed so organic and I think he is an amazing singer/songwriter/musician.
I can totally see why the band doesn't feel Shinn is the man. I see no point in Shinn singing old BM songs (other than morbid curiosity), he's better off moving forward with his own music. Hell, I wouldn't be disappointed if the four guys and him got together and formed a new band, although I don't know if the chemistry is there (styles are so different).
Makes me sad to say this but I think the sound in the pantry is credibility falling off the shelf.

I'm listening to the For My Friends Cd Right now...And it doesn't suck. I dig Everything is Energy & all that is Chris Shinn. It would have been great to him live...but I am going to see my 4th show with Travis & he is not a poor mans Hoon, that's just ridiculous.

My bad about the Rogers comment, I mixed up the poster on that one and apologize.
As far as a poor man's Hoon. I Absolutely stand behind that statement 100%. I just don't get all of the Travis hype and I think there are a ton of others who don't either from what I have been reading.
I believe in second chances and all but...

** as far as it "becoming a big joke"...
If you see it that way... i would keep in mind that a lot of the reason for that would have to do with all of the speculations, and voicing of opinions, and bickering back and forth by FANS--- NOT THE BAND.
Whatever happens... happens.
if they play together, i love it. wether its BM, UT, EIE....... or even as "Barry Jive and his uptown five" (high fidelity reference) with another singer outta nowhere that ends up knockin them on their asses.
sure, i love them as BLIND MELON and would hate to not be able to sing along at a show to all of the melon tunes that i have loved for ooooohh so long. but... thats NOT my decision. And if they find someone that they like to make music with, and that person DOESNT fit with singing blind melon songs, but is GREAT at singing something else.... then SO BE IT.
I love this BAND... and remember "BLIND MELON IS A BAND".

I definitely can echo the sentiment here that is pro Chris Shinn, I am still not sure why he doesn't "fit in" to what a band is doing. In my opinion a band is its members, and what those members produce is the band's sound or style. Honestly I enjoyed Travis on tour more than his spots on the album, and I still enjoy the album frequently. I am sorry to say that Chris singing does more for me than Travis, even though I appreciate that he was the one who spurred the band's return and recognize his abilities. Chriss just sounds more Sincere to me at this point in my music listening life.

I love it! I love it all! MORE BLIND MELON MORE BLIND MELON!! Travis sounds like a mixture of Shannon, Gedy Lee, and Chris Shinn. Three for the price of one. I love it all!
