WTF 8 days in Jamaica without internet. HA!
new years with Travis huh. who would have thunk it. that was some serious bashing on a very personal level.
good to see forgivness and maturity and professionalism for that matter shining thru
Of course doesnt say alot for the guys they audtioned not so much shinn but everybody else, I love Shinn too. but those melon tunes are drastically diiferent from Chris' stuff. But would have still loved to hear his versions. it also speaks volumes about Travis.
As far as a swan song. I sure as hell hope my favorite band of all time does not die in some place near DETROIT MICHIGAN for fuck sake. ugh. You want to see the death of the american dream go to detroit michigan
more music gents and re schedule that tour and bring it back east ASAP.

Thanks for the update Rogers. Unfortunately I won´t be at the show, but I wish you guys play a kickass show. Have that feeling with Travis one more time and see what happens from there. After all, the stage is the place to be. After that, que sera, sera.

I'm glad that you guys are doing the NYE show with Travis, even though I won't be there (only a little bitter, can you tell?) I truly hope that things work out with Travis and that we all get many, many more shows with the 5 of you together.

I totally wish I could be there for NYE but I just can't make it. I'm glad I saw the Tribute show in Indiana....if that was my last memory of seeing Travis on stage with these guys it will be a good one. It was a very good show.
I can only cross my fingers and toes and hope and hope and hope that it wasn't the last show I would see.....Blind Melon must go on.
We need you guys. #eyes#
Oxygen is to Lungs as Blind Melon is to ears.

I get it. But at the same time I don't. Perhaps there's no point in sitting here typing "WTF??" but it seemed like a Chris Shinn was going to save your show. There's no point in debating the situation and I can see your reasoning behind it. But I sure hope you discussed this with Chris and plan to do right by him in the future. I also don't doubt you are aware of his incredible talent. It's fair to do what's best for your band...but you do have fans sitting here watching the mess publicly unfold. And you made an official announcement saying Chris was playing your New Year's show. But now we hear from myspace blogs and the message board that plans have changed.
I think Travis is extremely talented. And I love you guys. So I would like to hope that you are all good with Chris Shinn and he was appropriately thanked for stepping up at a moment's notice. Because it feels like everyone's just going on like nothing happened, like we were never told he was stepping in. There's been no mention of him. I'd also like to hope that he will be thanked in the future, perhaps with an opening spot on your make up dates and following tour?? Even if he was just going to play the one show, it feels like he's getting shafted.
Blind Melon is an amazing band. I want to see you happy and successful and making great music. I really hope it all works out for everyone involved.

I really hope it all works out for everyone involved. Everything you are saying is true....The whole situation has not played out favorably. We would much rather have worked this out on our own without subjecting ya'll to it. Chris is a great dude and a rare talent, but comes from a very different place musically than Blind Melon. However, when I'm standing in the room with him and he sings it stops me in my tracks. Incredible voice....the band has talked quite a bit about begging him to do a Unified Theory record at some point, because when he sings it is the sound of Unified Theory, not Blind Melon. Us doing this New Year's show is all about putting negative feelings to rest and not canceling again on our fans, who have supported us and many of whom had already laid out cash to attend. We always want to play a great show, and this seemed to be the only way we were going to get there. I'm sorry if some are disappointed, but we made the best decision we could. peace wajuz

i'm just glad they are being honest with us. i can't stand "not knowing" i feel these guys are my friends and so, i guess i'm just happy that they made up. even if it turns out to be for one show only (even tho i'm praying it's not).

I would LOVE another Unified Theory record... Word to that. And Rogers, I truly do understand where you are coming from. Not canceling, going out on a positive, having the right sound, etc. It just seems like the bridge wasn't made from "Chris is playing NYE" to "Travis is playing NYE". Not to fans anyway. If it was about saving a show and fan's plans, etc. it's understandable. I would just like to see Chris Shinn get a public nod for stepping up, perhaps with the reasons why it didn't work. Otherwise it just looked like he was brushed aside. Everything had been "officially" announced up until now, it just seemed sudden and unexplained. But I appreciate the response.
