True, the FANS have had their hands in making a mockery of it all but the band also. I could did up the quotes from them on the reunion about how it was such a rare thing to happen but why bother. I just think it is a joke to think you could get multiple singers and still remain "Blind Melon". Please understand that I am and will support their music as long as it's quality but that is because I am a dedicated fan (as most of us here are). The music industry spreads far beyond our little melon world and I am afraid all this drama has just destroyed the credibility for most casual listeners. Let's face it, there are not enough devoted fans to sustain the band, you need the masses.

Let's face it, there are not enough devoted fans to sustain the band, you need the masses. There are not enough people trying to turn all of this negativity into something positive for this forum, and for the band. We can simply give up on them... A lot of people seem to be heading in that direction. I, for one, will never give up on Blind Melon, or this community.

Ive said this for years - and its no bash against any singer - but i would pay money to hear the funky sweet sounds of melon if Kermit the Frog was singing. But if that was the case they would have to play Being Green or Rainbow Connection or whatever Kermit sang in the swamp. Anyway as we all know , it was not an easy postition Travis took over. That being said , he knew the deal. You cant leave people scampering to locate you when there are so many depending on the bands services. Hopefully we can all get along and Rodney King is able to as well. I hope to make it to the show as i have to admit - the new Melon is and was awesome. The band has synergy that cant be duplicated. And T's vocals are made to sing. So good luck to all Melonheads alike ~ and many thanks to a band and its fans who are simply the best. Pace

Facts are facts, reality is real. Positive or negative, it is what it is. If the only people who posted here were the rose colored glasses melonheads there would only be 20 members to the forum. I appreciate any and all opinions even though I can’t stand some of the posts here. As long as they are not personal attacks people have a right to say what they feel.
That is my point ohiomelonhead, it takes mor than fans like you and me to sustain the band.

I'm ok with Kermit the frog...I love Rainbow Connection!!! The one thing that I have said all along is put a trained monkey up there....I really don't care. What CT, Brad, Glenn, and Rogers have is very unique. There aren't too many bands that have what they have. My husband is a musician, Blind Melon is the only band that we agree on. Even Bran has stated more than once that those guys have a chemistry that he only dreams about. I am grateful for the experiences that I have had.....and I pray that there are more to come. Rose colored glasses aren't such a bad idea in some situations.

I don't think the band needs the masses to "sustain" them. They have already proved their greatness many times over. It just flicks my mangina to know that the fire is still burning. Blind Melon taps into a part of our psyche that inspires and makes us smile. That vibe doesn't depend on a fan base.

I LOVE the Rainbow Connection! That songs reminds me of my childhood.
Willie Nelson and Jason Mraz both did good covers of it...you can find'em both on youtube.

I believe that Travis and this band have something specail. If everyone didn't know about all this BS that happend, no one would be saying all this shit that their saying. We really didn't even have a right to know. We all really shouldnt have known. Shannon and Blind Melon broke up god knows how many times, but the differance I guess is they kept it private and when they kissed and made up, no one knew the differance because they never knew they broke up. I think if anything everyone can take something postive out of this and learn once again from the band that always is teaching us something new. Friendship is priceless. And all those guys are friends, and friends are going to fight. Only they had to do it in the public eye. Witch can not be easy to do. We all are here because we love the music of Blind Melon. And I think Blind Melon understands that they just cant keep adding new singers when they get in a cat fight with someone. They wouldnt be Blind Melon. We all need to come together and remember the reason why we all came here. To enjoy the music of Blind Melon. Not to tell them what they did right or what they are doing wrong. simpley because WE DONT KNOW. Everyone here has one thing in common. We Love Blind Melon and Shannon Hoon. So insted of dwelling on things we can not controll. Lets talk about the music, and let the band do what they need to do to make the music we enjoy and love so much. We are a family here I like to believe. Even through the thoughest times....Blind Melon Fans stick together. We may not share the same toughts or opions on the band or songs or w/e but we all share a common ground that Blind Melon's music has touch our lifes in ways that I can't even begain to discribe. And for that my friends, gives us a bond that is unbrakeable. We all share friendships with people that we may not hang out with normally in life because of this band. It gives us seneces that we know eachother and get eachother because this band means soo much to us. I believe and will always believe that their is no fan in this world more deadticated, lolyal, loving, carring fans then Blind Melon fans. And I'll be damned if its to end here over a cat fight. Everyone just remember all the reasons why we are here.

as for the need for fans, i know they love us..and want as many as they can have, but i think theyre the kind of musicians who just love to create music and enjoy it for themselves as much or more than for the fans. its not about having millions of fans worship them, of course im sure theyd love the financial consequences of such. i feel these guys are connected in such a way that you know, they feel the music. its a part of them and nothing anybody says is gonna kill their creative drive. as far as any statement i might have made..dont think i was the one he was talkin about, but i did make a post right above his? just for clarification i was talkin about chris and how it would be interesting to hear his take, no slam on travis.. i really like travis and intend on going to any show i can possibly make it to. I skipped a page and posted that before i saw rogers' post, i certainly do not feel i know anything about what is best for anybody. Of course the band knows best and has the final word, its their freakin band!?! i totally agree with what all was said and have said it in a few posts before. ive always been one of the ones to who would go see them even without a singer..i will say, not trying to offend anyone at all or promote negativity, but i must protest against kermit the frog.. he's much too nasally for me... I love blind melon. PEACE HAPPY THOUGHTS YALL! #grouphug#

I don't understand why so many people are afraid of opinions and discussion. This is a message board. That's how it works. Opinions don't have to be negative. If you disagree, even with the band, it doesn't have to be negative. To think this forum could be love and sunshine 24/7 is not only unrealistic but boring too! We don't all have to agree. We don't all have to love everything the band says or does. It would be lame if we did. At that point we should all just walk into the BM shows with our eyes glazed over and a staggered walk chanting "Braaaaain."
At the same time I think most of us know we don't "get a vote" as to who sings for this band. It's not Rock And Roll Survivor. But again, it is a discussion board. I personally don't see how sharing your thoughts and feelings is making a mockery. Just because we don't say "Sure! Great!" doesn't mean we're trying to insult or make fun of the band. But there is a line of respect and crossing it just makes you look like an asshole.
I think the majority of people are here because they do care about this band. And a lot of good points have come from those who disagree with how they are handling it. But that's love. We don't always agree, but it's our closest friends who will have the balls to tell us, and still love us anyway.

Thanks rogers. I got a chance to meet you this summer in Liberyville, Il. You guys blew my mind! I also got a chance to meet Nel Hoon. She is a super hip lady. Just want you guys to know that whatever the outcome is with Travis, you have my support and a lot of people who love you out there! Keep on jammin! Were thirsty for melon in Illinois!

Right on tamara. Everyone has different thoughts and beliefs. The world would be amazingly boring if we were all the same. Variety is the spice of life. We need more people like you in the forum!
