I havent bought any albums yet (waiting for payday so I can get all of them ) so I'll let Sonya recommend them but I have to say the mix Sonya gave me hasnt left my player since it got here. I cant stop listening to Colorshow, Untitled Sss, Swept Away , One Line Wonder, Paranoia... and Will You Return? And of course Pretty Girl from Chile (totally about me :

I was just searching them on iTunes, and I realized that the have a lot of songs called "Pretty Girl from (enter your city here)"And they OBVIOUSLY wrote that one for you Gabbee - it's not even questionable. What about "Pretty Girl from Northern Ontario" - catchy eh?!

I would suggest emotionalism just to get you hooked then you'll be all over the web trying to find their out of print albums. their live shows are the best though

It's not easy to pick a favorite because they have so many great albums, but my favorites (in order) are:
1. "Four Thieves Gone" - most of my favorites are on this one (Colorshow, Matrimony, Famous Flower of Manhattan, Talk on Indolence), their most "alternative" release 2. "Emotionalism" - this one is much more laid back than "Four Thieves Gone". SOLID songwriting - considered their national breakout album...critically acclaimed, won lots of awards in 2007. 3. "Mignonette" - this almost ties with Emotionalism for me. A lot of great fan favorites on this one like Swept Away, At The Beach, Please Pardon Yourself, One Line Wonder - considered their regional breakout album. 4. "The Gleam" - EP full of great songwriting...lots of slower songs...very laid back. (When I Drink, Backwards With Time, If It's The Beaches) 5. "Live Vol. 2" - live recording from a few years ago, they have progressed a lot since this was recorded but it's still a good album...live versions of "Smoke In Our Lights" (with the lyric about Shannon Hoon) and "My Last Song to Jenny" are major highlights for me on this album. 6. "A Carolina Jubilee" - sounds the most like bluegrass...I honestly don't listen to it much
They have a couple more, but it's hard to find their earlier releases...they sounded a lot more bluegrass-y back in the day and I personally don't really dig bluegrass in general. They have defined their sound over the years, and have lost a lot of that bluegrass feel (which is good in my book).

And of course Pretty Girl from Chile (totally about me : "Gabriela....the things that I tell ya...." How awesome is that to have a song with your name in it? Somebody needs to write a "Sonya" song! Gabby, wait until you see them play that song live...it's fucking spectacular. They go all out with it. #rock#
