It's not easy to pick a favorite because they have so many great albums, but my favorites (in order) are: 1. "Four Thieves Gone" - most of my favorites are on this one (Colorshow, Matrimony, Famous Flower of Manhattan, Talk on Indolence), their most "alternative" release 2. "Emotionalism" - this one is much more laid back than "Four Thieves Gone". SOLID songwriting - considered their national breakout album...critically acclaimed, won lots of awards in 2007. 3. "Mignonette" - this almost ties with Emotionalism for me. A lot of great fan favorites on this one like Swept Away, At The Beach, Please Pardon Yourself, One Line Wonder - considered their regional breakout album. 4. "The Gleam" - EP full of great songwriting...lots of slower songs...very laid back. (When I Drink, Backwards With Time, If It's The Beaches) 5. "Live Vol. 2" - live recording from a few years ago, they have progressed a lot since this was recorded but it's still a good album...live versions of "Smoke In Our Lights" (with the lyric about Shannon Hoon) and "My Last Song to Jenny" are major highlights for me on this album. 6. "A Carolina Jubilee" - sounds the most like bluegrass...I honestly don't listen to it much They have a couple more, but it's hard to find their earlier releases...they sounded a lot more bluegrass-y back in the day and I personally don't really dig bluegrass in general. They have defined their sound over the years, and have lost a lot of that bluegrass feel (which is good in my book). Damn!! Thanks for all the info. I Dl'd the Show from Pickathon, The songs sound really cool. I am a Bluegrass Addict , So I might dig their older stuff. I'm physced to check out some good new music. Every hear The Hunger Mountain Boys www.hungermountainboys.comDefinitely more Bluegrass / Old time but these guys are incredible. Thanks again Jim

I don't think we'll be going because Frankie is still in school then. June 5-8 is technically my birthday weekend though (my b-day is actually on June 3rd) and I'll be turning the big 3-0 so I want to do something extra special. We'll see...

Yeah that appears to be The Gambler, that's what I thought made it extra funny.

he didn't pull a Brad Nowell, and paint a Hilter mustache like he did to Willie Nelson's poster, did he? Sharp dressed man, he is he and the yellow man from George must hang together

just got done listening to one of the earlier darling (seth avett solo) albums and shannon hoon was mentioned again the first being the avett brothers song smoke in our lights and I was wondering why the avetts haven't ever covered any of their songs, that would be absolutley devine. anyways heres the lyrics to "for all the times..."
I left her long ago And lived to tell the story Of what I have to show For all the times I've ruined my life
When midnight feels like morning And fire lights my way For such an avid talker I don't have much to say It's all the times I've ruined my life It's all the times I've ruined my life
This one kills my headlamps And hides me in the woods Try to say I'm sorry I'd wake up if I could It's all the times I've ruined my life
And this one has lying Beneath the light bulb moon Asking God permission To talk to Shannon Hoon It's all the times I've ruined my life It's all the times I've ruined my life
Cause this one sinks before you And tells you to forget Your always empty pockets And monumental debt It's all the times I've ruined my life It's all the times I've ruined my life
