Ok, so you guys know that Greg and I are junkies for these guys and we're trying get you hooked as well because this is just the type of band that when you discover them you want all your friends to know about them too. We saw them for the first time yesterday at an in-store performance celebrating the release of their latest album. I could go on about these guys forever, but what I think are the most important things about them are that they have a unique and interesting sound that borrows from a handful of different genres to the point that you can't put a label on exactly what genre they are, their songs are raw, genuine, and honest, and one of the coolest things about them is that they are humble, down to earth guys who are just as excited to be playing their music for their fans as their fans are to see them live. Their live shows are full of infectious energy that draws people in and leaves them wanting more.
These reasons are the exact same reasons why I was turned on to Blind Melon 14 years ago and it feels so good to get this excited about a band again. They are a breath of fresh air to me. I know we are all a bunch of melonheads here and the way I can tell you to relate to them at first listen is to think of their music as being similar to the sound of "Skinned" or "Walk". The banjo sound is what you'll pick out first. Plus I know I said this elsewhere in the forum, but they incorporate Shannon into one of their lyrics so you know they are cool if they appreciate Shannon enough to write a song that mentions him. ;D

If you check them out and think they suck, please don't tell me about it because it will break my heart in a million tiny pieces.
Here are some links of the show we went to yesterday. Somebody took video footage of the entire show and uploaded it so I'll post those links as well as a link to a slideshow of photos we took from the day. The video quality is ok, there is definitely better footage out there to be seen, but this footage is special to us b/c we were there. Better quality video can be found on their myspace and official website, as well as on youtube. I would just post the photos in here but I don't want to bog anyone's computer down so I'm just posting the link. We're working on cleaning up the photos a bit by cropping and brightening them so I may post the final results at a later time.
