I keep bypassing this thread because I don't know if what I have to say is very interesting but here goes..... The first time I heard of Blind Melon was when the video for "no rain" came on and I was INSTANTLY drawn to it, when I first heard Shannon and saw him it was like I was instantly infatuated, I had never heard a voice like that, it was raw and pure at the same time, its hard to describe exactly. Shannon brought me in, I have to admit it, I was a teenager and he was probably the most beautiful man I had ever seen. All through my life I can always put on a Blind Melon CD and it simplifies things for me. When life gets all complicated and stressful this music is the only thing that can bring me into perspective and I don't feel so bad. It brings me back to earth. I get so sad when I think of Shannon being gone, I never knew him, but he was one unique and special person. It must have been a high just being around him! Ditto Lady Mere!!!!!! seriously!!...well, except the seeing them live part..darn, u got one up on me there! haha I am still waiting for the "right words" to surface before i put them down. thank you for sharing!! i dunno if i coulda put it any better!

The first time I heard Blind Melon (when I was about 11 years old I saw No Rain on tv), Shannon's voice instantly "hit" me, in a positive way. It was the only thing on my mind for a few weeks, and I've still never gotten tired of any of their music. Whenever I feel bad or lonely, Shannon's voice can instantly cheer me up.. I'm grateful for that! And, as I posted in the Dreams & Experiences thread the other day (but it suits here too!): I was on this really strange trip... Suddenly I turned around, and there was Shannon looking at me, and he smiled for a couple of seconds, and then disappeared. Somehow, all the sudden I realised some kinds of drugs just aren't the right thing to do, thinking about how a lovely young man like Shannon left us.. it could've easily been me the other day.. but I probably wouldn't have made it 'till 28, since I was like 15 back then. I never touched any "dangerous" drugs ever again I love Shannon for making me realize that!

Well, since I've been a fan for only a few weeks now, I'm not really sure if I can pull out a whole speech about how Blind Melon changed my life... >.<
But, I can say that Shannon's vocals were totally amazing, and I Wonder has to be one of the greatest songs I've ever heard, along with Galaxie and Toes Across the Floor. And right now, I think he's upstairs with the big guy, looking after Nico, and is happy. :3

When I take the kid to school we trade days for whose cd we are going to play.Mine is always a Blind Melon cd & hers is My Chemical Romance or Good Charlotte or something.Right now I have alot of work to do straightening up the Living Room & you can bet that I'll be playing an assortment of Blind Melon cds.Shannon & Blind Melon touch every part of my life which you all can relate to.During the good times & the bad. Rock On Melons!

Seeing Shannon playing that big fat Guild or Gibson Jumbo acoustic guitar turned me on to acoustic guitar and acoustic music. He and the bands music changed my music choices alot. music to me was no longer just distorted guitar rock, it could also be vulnerable. My opinion of what is good music is completely different than my years before Blind Melon Live in St. louis before no rain became a hit, in front of maybe 30 people( including band and staff).

That's a great true - life story jonnieslade.I don't play any instruments, but if I did an acoustic guitar would be my first choice.I would like to see if I could actually write a song.Shannon wrote & played Change by himself before he even left Indiana,so in that tradition,I would like to have my own Change. No where near as good as Change but something that I would actually like.I'm gonna do it Man.An acoustic guitar is going into the budget somehow.

I just think it's amazing that I can listen to or watch him after all these years and still be affected by his words. I can always listen to him when I am depressed and really listen to what he is saying. Somehow it always helps.
