The name change thing was said tongue in cheek. Don't want to start that debate again. I would just love to hear songs from all the incarnations of the band members work.

I'm going to the Towson show if it doesn't get canceled and I will try to get as much footage as possible. Chris Shinn has a great voice and I know he will do the songs justice.
I just want to wake up from all of this really and for things to be the way there were yesterday. Maybe one day Travis can work through whatever problems he is going through....physical, emotional, and otherwise and maybe come back to the band. I can always hope.

Rogers, For years I prayed Blind Melon would get back together, that has happened. the 4 remaining original members are together. Thats what is important.Stay together, the music is always awesome. A fan of Blind Melon is a fan for life- See you in Lancaster!

I keep coming back here hoping to see another post from the band saying they worked it out and Chris will fill in while Travis takes a break to get his voice back.
Also Travis needs to get the nicotine monkey off his back!! It's just a horrible destructive habit.

Anyone else thinking about Nel? I find myself thinking of her during all this...it must have been difficult for her to see someone else singing her son's songs - but she really seemed to accept Travis and in that - I feel she placed a certain trust in him w/ Shannon's songs...now she must feel as if that trust was somehow broken... She has been thru so much...I was wondering if anyone talks to her? cloudy i was thinking the same exact thing.

This is a huge shock and I'm sorry I haven't been on here much except for this, but I wish everyone luck..Travis was such a great part of the sound, but things happen and you can't continue if all parties are not happy. Chris Shin is wonderful and has a phenomenal voice! Best of luck to all and hopefully I will see the band again in the near future!

Well,
As most of you know, I called Rogers to verify any upcoming shows being cancelled... I could tell by the tone in his voice that things were not right, and that he was in the middle of something when I spoke to him. I've spoken to Rogers a handful of times on the telephone, and he always had something to say that would make me laugh. Not last night... And, it really scared me.
After posting that the Indiana show was cancelled, I received numerous phone calls from forum peeps... Lillie pointed Travis' blog out to me (since I basically log into all of the MySpace accouncts once, each morning). After reading the blog, I literally felt sick. Now I know why Rogers' tone was so... not Rogers' tone.
I decided to turn my computer completely off without leaving any messsage for Travis. I went to bed hoping I would wake up and the blog would be gone, and all would be settled. Well, I didn't sleep much at all... I decided to get out of bed around 4 or 5am (I can't remember exactly) to log back on. Strangely enough, an entire section of my city was without electricity. I was actually forced NOT to check for any further updates. My heart was breaking at the thought that this was happening.
When I was able to log in, I re-read Travis' blog, read an eMail from Rogers, then read the Heartbreak Hotel thread. I have mixed emotions. I'm still not sure if I can put them into words. One thing is certain, I hope Travis gets better soon.........
Being a huge Melon fan, I was nearly brought to tears after re-reading the Hotel thread. For some reason, I felt let down. Sounds selfish, but that's how I felt. And, I am sure that's how the band feels (and perhaps Nel as well). When you take on such a huge task, then simply throw it away while things seemed to be starting to explode, it leaves a world of people in disbelief. Travis knew what he was walking into. He wasn't just some random singer, he was a fan... He told us that every night he performed... At first I thought the road wasn't for him. But, he did announce that he will be looking to start a new band and hopes to be back out soon. I read between the lines... And, I'm crushed.
I sit here now imagining Shinn singing Blind Melon songs. It's very hard for me to picture. Everyone that knows me, knows that Chris Shinn and Shannon Hoon are 2 of my favorite singers. I put a lot of faith in Chris. He's stepping into a very strange situation... It's not the same situation Travis stepped into. This is weird. I don't know what Shinn is thinking or feeling. I do know one thing, Chris Shinn is QUICKLY stepping up to the plate, for his friends, and for Blind Melon fans. For that, I not only admire Chris, I feel in debt to Chris... just as I did when Travis came along. Travis brought the band back together. Travis nearly put an end to the band. Blind Melon decided not to let that happen by asking Chris. Chris made sure it DIDN'T happen by taking the reigns.
All in all, I'm still a fan of Travis' music. I'll buy the CD. He let me down, but that doesn't mean I hate the guy. I'm upset with what happened, obviously. But, there's a reason for everything. I feel "protective" when it comes to the remaining members of Blind Melon. I don't like how this ended... For that, I am more angry then sad.
There are 5 people I have to thank.
Thank you Blind Melon. Thank you Chris Shinn.
I'm still here. I'm not going anywhere. I haven't left you guys since the beginning. Rogers, Brad, CT, and Glen have never disappointed me.
Here's to the start of something new... *clink*

I would just love to hear songs from all the incarnations of the band members work. yeah, i know....it was funny ....just shows how talented they are individually as well as a band...if chris shinn cant do it....i wonder what perry ferrell is up to these days...i think shannon would really get a kick out of that #hoonsmiley#

Wow. When I woke up this morning, I was all excited about seeing you guys at Piere's in Ft. Wayne... and now this. What a complete 180. Very grateful that I got to see you all twice over the summer and will forever be one of your biggest fans. Good luck in the future. Sure hope you guys find a good fit for you on vocals. God bless!

Good luck and long live melon - they put out a awesome album after a long long time. Its clear there is a good synergy with the 4 og's - and Travis was and is a great singer - but if it was for the best then they would surely know. I really hope they get another singer and continue putting out great music. It can happen people - its starts with us Melonheads
