Guys - I don't like how some of the comments are already going. Please show no disrespect to Travis. It's hard for him and the band. Blind Melon is a Band.... I'm not trying to start anything but i just want to say that Travis wasnt wanting to be a part of the band obviously he couldn't even remember words to songs cause he was soo far gone at times, and that makes the guys look bad, and im sure all of you are not blind to what Travis has been doing and it aint fair for the band to put up with it, not after what they already have been threw, he wanted all the benefits of the band but didnt want to put in the work, and to me that just shows how selfish he is and i dont want to listen to his music at all cause it makes me question the real reason why he joined Blind Melon in the first place...

Come on Lemonade. While I agree with some things you said, if Travis didn't come around these last two years would have never happened...I bet the rest of the band would admit that too...

Come on Lemonade. While I agree with some things you said, if Travis didn't come around these last two years would have never happened...I bet the rest of the band would admit that too... oh im not saying that it would, im just saying i know a bunch of crazy melons who would sing their hearts out to those songs no matter what, they dont really need a new lead singer to do their OLD songs, but for them to keep coming with new martial they need someone who has talent like Travis but someone whose about the band and not about just being a rock star. And think of what happen to Shannon and realize whats real in the world. Hes a good musician, I give him credit for that. But Shannon was a great musician and more importantly a great guy to be around(when he wasn't cracked out). I can't say the same for Travis. Maybe that's what got him. I don't know I'm not saying anything eles bad about him, I said what I feel like I have had to say. To the band...you did the right thing by me. "Make The Music That Makes Us Feel Fine" Theres no "I" in "US".

i'm angry. devastated. sad. frustrated. can't even put words in writing. travis is one of a kind - not just as a musician, but as a person. none of us have been in his shoes. unless we've been a fly on those walls, let's not cast stones - we haven't been inside to know ALL of what happened. right or wrong. whatever the fuck happened. the last year following this band to shows has been the best times of my life, as i know it has been for so many others. please don't lay hate upon the one soul that made that happen for us. regardless of how it ended. travis, much love and best wishes. to the rest of the band, we trust in your judgement.

I don't really even know what to say right now. Hell, I don't even know how to feel right now. It's almost 3am and my sleep-deprived brain is having a hard time processing this. As much as I wish they could just "kiss and make up", if they believe that it's best for Travis and the rest of the band to go their separate ways, I'm not going to argue, they know what's best for them better than we ever will. I'm just thankful for everything that has happened these last 2 years, and wish both Travis and the rest of the band the best for the future.

to be honest i don't blame Lemonade for being angry. it's totally natural that he's angry hell I'm pissed off as well. i think that travis should tell us that he simply wasn't with it anymore. i can't blame the band for being angry. tho i still like travis' music and will continue to listen to it. I'm angry upset pissed disappointed and then some. in the end everything happens for a reason i wish the best for all.
and if i were to say this came as a surprised i would be lying.

Well said Kacie, I want to point out this part: travis is one of a kind - not just as a musician, but as a person. none of us have been in his shoes. unless we've been a fly on those walls, let's not cast stones - we haven't been inside to know ALL of what happened. right or wrong. whatever the fuck happened. ........ please don't lay hate upon the one soul that made that happen for us. This is hard for everyone, it's hard for us but it's even harder for the band and Travis. Please try not to make it even harder on them throwing out insults. Rogers and Travis were kind and open enough to give us all their side of the story. I am thankful for that and not taking it for granted. Please show some respect, it's a really tough situation for them. I'm sending good thoughts and vibes to everyone, the band and Travis. You are all amazingly talented and deserve nothing but the best.

I agree Barb. We have heard both sides and we should respect them both. I am thankful that I have been able to see the band that I love so many times this past year. Travis helped make my dream of seeing Blind Melon live come true. I don't think we'll ever know the specifics, nor do I want to. I would like to leave my memory of Blind Melon (with Travis) untainted in my head. I wish the best for Travis because I am a huge fan of his music. I will continue to love his music and support his solo work. However, we are all here for one reason BLIND MELON. I will continue to love this band, appreciate their talent and look forward to seeing them again. Just like we accepted Travis, we will accept a new singer again. This is all just so heartbreaking.
And I hope that it all works out...

Chris Shinn? Sounds like a great plan to me, he is one helluva talented man.
Maybe we will get to hear some live UT songs as well.
Rogers, call Rene up and EV can be the opener.

Well...
I got to sleep on this.
First off, thank you Rogers. Thank you for allowing us to hear an explanation. It certainly is not like the old days. Back before the internet, we as fans, may have never known about this. Maybe it could have been resolved, probably not though.
Seems like it was a slow burn. A sloooow train wreck. I always thought something was not exactly right between Travis and the band. I mean, here is the new guy that brought them all back together, and he is barely seen except for onstage. To me, one would think he would be doing everything to try and win the fans over. It was something I really went back and forth in my mind about many times. I mostly shrugged it off as "thinking too much about things". I am not saying I predicted this to myself but now that we sorta know what happened, it is easier to put a few pieces together.
I will be respectful of Travis and whatever he has going on or struggling with. If this was about drugs, then that is just fucking sad. I cannot imagine the same thing wrecking this band twice, al be it in a different way. I would think they would have had a strict policy about such things, especially since... Humans are humans. We will just say it didn't work out. That is the saddest part here. Nothing more to really expand on. Whats the point.
We all (mostly) accepted Travis. He is talented and I will pick up his solo record. It will be tough to swallow as it will be tough to spin For My Friends again. But its about the music and we liked it yesterday so I am sure we will still like it today. I really hope the folks who didn't accept Travis don't come out of the wood work and say I told you so but, well, humans are humans.
I will support Blind Melon. I think these guys really want to be together and create together. Maybe Travis's role is done. He brought em back together, now maybe it is someone elses turn to get it back to what it once was. Looks like we get to see what Chris can do live in the Blind Melon setting. There is no doubt he will be able to pull off the Shannon songs. Not sure about the new album. Not sure how that will work out. Time will tell. One thing is for sure, the uphill climb to get the non diehard Blind Melon fans into the fold, just got harder.
Blind Melon is a band. We love them not because of Travis. We love them because of the music and who they are as people. I just do not want them to be over. We just got em back. I could just keep writing. I'll stop.
When life is hard, you have to change...
Peace and Melon love all... Let's make the best of this together. Brad

I am still in the initial shock phase....wow.
I will say that no matter what I support Blind Melon and the band wholeheartedly. I always will no matter what happens. Travis was a great talent and I am sure he will go on to do great things. In this situation my heart lies with Blind Melon and I love this band more than anything. I look forward to the future and can only hope and pray in my heart of hearts that there will be more new music from them for years to come. Lets get together and support this band in their time of needing their fans most.
Brad,
Your post was awesome, thank you for taking the time to write it so eloquently.

wow, what a thing to read at 6:30 in the morning. Well, i dont know what all transpired, but i do know that 4 of my 5 favorite musicians ever have really made me happy over the last few months. As far as travis, he is an amazing talent and has allowed me to have new blind melon music. I must say though, I was terribly dissapointed when he did not join the rest of the band after the show. I asked Brad where he was and he said he was trying to save his voice, which im sure is true, but, you know for a huge shannon fan to welcome him with open arms and be excited about meeting him, it kinda put a dent in my enthusiasm for him. Im not sure whats going on, but if its a substance abuse/dependence problem, i pray that he gets the support, love, help and treatment he needs, whatever it is, i hope he gets what he needs. That being said, it isnt such a hard blow now that I read Roger's side. This band has proven that they can defy all obstacles and be appreciated as individual artists as well as a band. This current record has really helped me through a hard life transition and im not gonna take anything away from that....(oh, and glen's drummin is amazing, sorry random i know), anyway my strongest emotional connection will always be with shannon singing...that the bottom line. Shannon speaks to my heart. When im upset, i want to hear shannon's voice. I am though, really excited about chris shinn. I hadnt really listened to unified theory until i joined the forum and im really into it....its real music, unique and interesting. I must say, i hope they melon it up alot!! Anyway, God bless blind melon and God bless Travis Warren.......when life is hard you have to change.
