Thank you Rogers. Thank you Blind Melon....for putting it out there for the phans. I'm shocked and saddened by the news, but Blind Melon existed LONG before Travis came along and I stand by Blind Melon's decisions. I was a phan in the beginning & always will be. I fully support you all. As far as Travis, a scratchy voice, I always thought he smoked to much. Chris Shinn's voice is angelic, loved the UT albums. See you in NYC...

I had a feeling it was something like this - a few things Travis did along the way has had me wondering for a while...he is an enormous talent and I wish him luck, maybe one day he'll realize what he gave up. Rogers - thanks for an honest and heartfelt post - we were all waiting for it and appreciate it. Now - down to busoness - WHERE CAN I HEAR CHRIS' VOICE? cloudy

Wow - what quick responses to my plea - THANK YOU ALL! Great voice!
I want to MOVE on and support him - he is coming into this in not the greatest way and he should feel we all are behind him!
This tour is emotional enough for the guys - w/out having to put up w/ the extra crap - I hope this allows them to enjoy it more and have fun w/ it in a non stressful environment - they deserve it!
Love his voice - he should fit right in with the old and new songs....

I hope somebody gets a good tape of the first show... im dying to see.

opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one...so here's mine. I've read alot of messages from members talking about the last two years which is great. Blind Melon are a band that gained new fans much after Shannon died. (which is really cool and just goes to show how timeless their music really is). But those of us who were around when Unified Theory got together are blown away by the thought of seeing Chris Shinn on stage with Brad & Christopher for the first time in 8 years. Add Rogers & Glenn to the mix and we've really in for something special. When UT initially hit, people said he sounded earily like Shannon, but after listeneing to more than 15 seconds, it became apparent that Chris has his own sound. Travis is more raw and wears his influences on his sleeve (and his back for that matter). I can go on for days...but one thing is certain. Blind Melon's music will always be there. Chris will be amazing and I can't begin to describe how excited I am about seeing these guys together in a few weeks. Splits suck and I wish Travis luck moving forward. I was excited about seeing BM in Toronto on the 22nd, but now I'm BLOWN AWAY by the idea of seeing Blind Melon with Chris Shinn!!

Somebody PLEASE record the shows with Chris Shinn. I have been waiting 9 years to hear his take on some BM songs. Too bad I am out of vacation time for the year otherwise I'd be on the next plane out to see them myself and give them support. I don't think Chris will join permanently, I do think he should consider it. Acutally now might be a good time for a name change, how about Abandoned Blind Unified Virgins . Seriously, I'd love to go to a show and be able to hear new music, old BM, AJ, UT and EV songs. I am not just a fan of BM or Shannon or Travis, I am a fan of the guys as musicians and I have found greatness in all the work I have heard from them. I admire Chris for stepping up to help the band out, class act. I also hope that the band and Travis reconsider, wishful thinking, I know. After reading Prato's book and finding out that BM were on the verge of splitting up a few times got me thinking. Maybe if this whole internet thing didn't exist we would have never heard about any of this, they would've cancelled the shows for the remainder of the year and had time to sort out all the drama. Now it is too easy to put things out into the public forum when wounds are still fresh.

Not being old enough to have experienced the original line-up (early teen when I first heard the album 'Blind Melon'), it has been really nice to hear the music live. No matter who signs the songs. The greatness of this band was cemented in time long before the reformation was even a thought. I would go see a cover band, with none of the original members if that was my only choice. To hear the music LIVE is what makes the experience. Blind Melon is truly a band who plays their music for the fans. Thank you. It really shows your dedication moving forward with the tour. Most other bands of today would have thrown in the towel. This move makes me want to see them more now than ever. Keep up the awesome dedication; I'm sure it is not easy. And please, please come back to the Vogue here in Indy!!

i dont know about the whole name change thing, i like being able to say blind melon when referring to my most favorite band ever..past and present, but i was listening to abandon jalopy the other day (another one i wasnt familiar with until this great forum), and man, i just love that stuff.....really different, cant explain...but it would be great if theyd play some songs from all of their bands. yeah, and they need to make their shows 5 hours long with no breaks!!!

Anyone else thinking about Nel?
I find myself thinking of her during all this...it must have been difficult for her to see someone else singing her son's songs - but she really seemed to accept Travis and in that - I feel she placed a certain trust in him w/ Shannon's songs...now she must feel as if that trust was somehow broken...
She has been thru so much...I was wondering if anyone talks to her?

Thank you Rogers, Brad, CT, Glen and Travis. We made it to 7 shows in 2008 and at every one of them, you gave us a show we will always carry with us in our hearts. We wish Travis the best because without him, we wouldn't have had those 7 shows.
We know Blind Melon will carry on. Chapter two was such a blessing. Who knows where chapter three will take us all? "Keep It Between The Ditches!" We look forward to seeing you again soon!
