Nel said that some people in the area would like to put a stop to vigil. She asked me to write a letter to the local newspaper.
While we were at vigil we stopped to eat at a place called CiCi's there we met up with a tv crew that does a local tv show I believe it's called Midwest nights or something like that any way they saw us coming with our vigil shirts on and asked if we had seen the show on Fri. that opened up a great line for me to start talking about the people who want to shut down vigil. They thought that was horrible and agreed to interview Nel and join our cause. They are also friends with the guy who writes the article about vigil in the paper they said they would make sure my letter got in. anyway here is the copy of the letter I sent~
I would like to thank a wonderful community~
As usual we were greated with open arms not only by fellow melonheads
but the people of Dayton as well.
Each year my hubby and our 2 teenage boys make this trip
We come out of love and respect for Shannon and his family
At first I thought the people of this small town must think us such a bother
but each time I come I find yet another person or group of people
who want to share a Shannon tale.
After meeting Nel for the 1st time and watching how she runs this Vigil
I have a better understanding of why people in the community are willing to allow
us Hoonheads to invade their town.
This is also why I feel safe bringing my boys along.I like the fact that Nel enforces
the sober vigiling policy no drugs and no alchol.I love watching her police the area with
a flashlight. A sight to see!
On Sunday morning we all come together to walk the cemetery and pick up
anything left behind how does that saying go....take only memories leave only footprints
Well anyhoon I just felt this needed to be said The Hoon family has made such a good impression
on so many people it's not hard to see why once you see where they come from~
With much love~
