I didn't see his "apology" (and can't watch it now, cuz I have dial-up), but I did see the video on the news & there are some things you just can't apologize for. What the hell could he possibly say that would make that right? Bottom line is he's a racist on a good or bad day...he just let it slip out on a bad one.

I agree. That is going to be one tough thing to appologize for. I can't stand racists.

If you watch the end of the video, just when he drops the mic. The look on his face almost suggests that he realized what he just did, ruined his career.

Wow. I don't think I will even bother to watch the apology on Letterman. It probably isn't even sincere, and just a desperate act in salvaging his carreer. And as I was watching, all I could think of was how it will effect Seinfeld. I'll still appreciate it for Larry David's genius, and the actors talent.... and the zany storylines that have me laughing my ass off..but "character" is important to me, not just " a character" on tv. Too bad he learned the hard way: Some things you just can't take back. PS: Isn't the definition of character something like "your decisions and your actions when nobody's looking" He was being himself, we saw his true character.

well all I know is I'm glad all the people that have witnessed me saying stupid offensive shit have given me the chance to explain myself and apologize, though I've never been racist in any of it I've said some pretty fucked up stuff in my life mostly due being enraged or being too drunk to think things through before I said them, sometimes people who are that angry can say things just to get the people that are insulting them to be as angry as them to get revenge, the anger clouds their judgement. I'm not supporting anything he said but how can you completely judge a person based on what is probably one of the lowest points in their life. I'm sure all of you have said things that are totally out of character and would not want someone to judge your entire personality based upon that one moment.

It depends on what you say..Some things are easier to forgive than what Michael said.(which has to be one of the hardest ones) I agree with you on that some people say whatever it takes to get back at someone,to get them angry,But we don`t know if that was what he was going for. It`s just a possible that those were his true feelings.(i hope not) And mouthfulofsoup.. Even if we don`t know them in a personal level,i just can`t help it that from now on when i`m going to watch Seinfeld i won`t be able to block this off completely. In the back of my mind i will think of what Michael said. And i believe that there are alot of Seinfeld fans out there that feel the same way.

Does anyone else see any similarities between this incident, and Mel Gibson's Anti-Semitic rant? Maybe it's the "in" thing to do in Hollywood these days.

After my post, you probably won't believe me when I say that I don't think I am a judgemental person . But when people open themselves up for it, what are ya supposed to do? Seems like he showed his true colors in that one. I am thinking that his words did have more to do with his character after all. We all have a right to say what is on our minds, and that was on his. Yes, I have had to apologize to people for things I have said too. I only hope that I can be responsible enough think before I talk, even in a heated situation. And, to never rip on someone to hurt them so badly, just to "win", that I say things I can't take back. It's kind of out there now, ya know? I guess I am shocked that there are still peeps out there that think this way...still! ANyway, that is just my reaction to the outburst, that's all.

It is a real shame that Michael Richards is the way he is... If he was more like Kramer everyone would love him... It just so happens that he chose to dedicate his life to being a dickhead, and professional dickhead... You just have to watch the bloopers on the Seinfeld dvds and you see how pissed off he gets when someone makes a mistake...
