I did last Sunday. Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, I have no words! What a beautiful fucking concert! They played for 2 hrs and did 2 electric and 1 acoustic set... Played everything from the most popular stuff like Would?, Rooster, Again, Man in the Box, Bleed The Freak, Them Bones, Got Me Wrong, etc etc to songs NO ONE was expecting like DON'T FOLLOW (Oh man, highlight of the night for sure!), Sludge Factory and Grind. Someone threw a water bottle that almost hit Jerry and he invited them to get the fuck outta there. I had pit tickets and I dont think I've ever been so squeezed in my life! It was CRAZY! I didn't think I could make it out alive, but eventually I found my way away from the madness and right in front of Jerry... Just sucks I didn't get to see Mike AT ALL And to everyone who thinks it's disrespectful that those boys are getting together minus Layne and keeping the name Alice in Chains, there's this time in between sets where they play this beautiful video as a tribute to Layne. The crowd went nuts! Obviously everybody misses him, and it couldnt be different with the guys... After the show some friends and I saw where the tour bus was (we had parked on the other side of the fence) and who was walking towards it? Sean Kinney! I couldnt resist so I yelled his name and he smiled and waved back. Right around then William came out and chatted with us for a couple minutes. I have to say I'm pretty happy with this guy being the new singer, he doesn't change the songs around to try and make it his own, but he doesnt sound (or try to) like Layne at all either. I told him I thought Alice was in good hands and he seemed to appreciate every compliment I gave him. When he left we started for the car and there was this girl throwing a FIT with the security guy, claiming to be Jerry long lost cousin, LOL. She was real loud, obnoxious and trashy so it was real funny... Pictures coming soon that is awesome man. don't follow is one of my fav. tunes for sure. i hope i get to see them sometime. it's hard when you live in middle of nowhere Canada.

Ahhhh what a good show!!! I will never get enough of seeing Alice in Chains live and I will be going to see them every chance I get. Deff. worth the 3.5 hr drive!!! It was scary cause we were running a little late and when we finally found the street the club was at... A FUCKING TRAIN BROKE DOWN BLOCKING ALL TRAFFIC ON THE STREET! We were all fucking stoned and sat there waiting for the train to pass for a good 5 minutes until I finally realized it wasnt moving #lmao# It was so fucking retarded we had to laugh. Anyway, we turned around and managed to find an alternative route and get there on time... Got a sweet spot, this time on Mike's side... He is so adorable, all smiles all night! I dont want to ruin it for those of you attending soon, but let me just say you'll be in for a treat... Glitch, are you Raven from the old Jar board? If so, daaaaaaamn long time no see, I hope you have or will be seeing them soon!!! BradSmithIsCool (aint that the truth), yeah Dont Follow is like a fucking anthem huh? Thye played it again this time and I actually made a video of it on my friends camera... Hopefully she will send it to me soon so I'll send it your way. Hope you get to see them soon man!

I went to see Alice in Chains last night. H - O - L - Y - S - H - I - T ! ! ! ! ! !
They played the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver last night. Crazy, just crazy! Just like Gabbee said - three sets: 2 electric, 1 acoustic. And the Fillmore was packed. I don't know if I have ever seen it that full. They basically played every song that I wanted to hear.
And yes, 'Don't Follow' is one of my all-time AIC favorites, and when they played that, it was one of the highlights of the evening by far.
The new singer, William DuVall did a good job. I think he sounded enough like Layne w/o trying to be him, y'know? He had his own vibe and stage prsence, which was totally energetic! I think it matters if the rest of the band is comfortable with a new singer, then that makes the music that much better than if they tried to force something that wasn't working. But this new AIC definitely works. Denver was rockin' ! ! !
I would also like to remark how at the end of "Would?", the lyrics go "IF. . . . . . I . . . . . . COULD. . . . . . . WOULD . . . . . YOU? Well the whole place was singing it, and during the pauses between those words, you could hear complete silence, and each word, the whole place sang it. I just love it when a crowd is that into it.
The concerts I went to in high school almost always had mosh pits; but these days, I just don't see any of that, at the shows I attend (not many mosh pits at Burning Spear shows #thumb# ). Well, last night was the first mosh pit that I had seen in a long time. It seemed to get the most intense during 'Angry Chair'.
Tried to get my camera into the show, but it didn't work out. I had to go through the line twice. haha! Oh well. . . The Fillmore is notorious in Denver for their security at shows.
If any of Blind Melon reads this post, just know that I was watching and listening to the AIC show last night, and it made me really excited about seeing your new tour when you visit Colorado. There's Red Rocks, The Fillmore, The Gothic Theater, and many other venues. I can't wait to see Blind Melon in Colorado! ! ! !
Okay, back on topic. . . Go see Alice In Chains! They fn rocked Denver - they'll rock your town, too! ! ! ! !

I forgot to mention what Gabbee had talked about. During one of the set breaks, they had this video tribute to Layne. It was awesome, and the crowd loved it! When you watch that video, you realize that the whole show is a tribute to Layne in a certain way.

Ryan, it sounds like you had a blast! Thanks for posting your story...I was hoping you had been able to sneak a camera in. Did you happen to write down a setlist? I'm curious to know what they played.

I don't have a setlist per se, but let me try to remember some songs they did:
Grind, Angry Chair, Them Bones, Dam That River, We Die Young, Man in the Box, Rooster, Would?, Down in a Hole, Don't Follow, Brother, Got Me Wrong, Sludge Factory, Whale & Wasp, No Excuses, Over Now
I know I'm missing some, but those arer the ones that I remember them playing. . .

You got to hear Down In A Hole....lucky. Did they do Bleed The Freak? I was fortunate enough to see them when they were touring for Dirt and those were two songs I really wanted to hear that they didn't play.

Whale and Wasp is, to me, one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded by man. Just thought I'd throw that in there. Played live, does it do justice to the studio version? I've always wondered that...

Y'know what, I forgot to mention that "Whale & Wasp" was being played from a recording before and as they walked onto stage. So, actually they didn't perform that one.
But I agree that songs is great! It was a great mood-setter to start the show.

Sooo glad to hear you had a good time Ryan, although I knew you would! Bet you're still grinning eh? I know I am and it's already been almost a week! Did they play Nutshell? It felt just a tad bit weird to hear that song... I always felt that that was such a LAYNE song... What about Rain When I Die? I almost cried when they played that one (and they did both times), it has always been one of my favorites!!! Sonya.. I hate you! I can't believe on top of meeting all the melon boys, you also got to see Layne live... I think Ive never been so jealous of anyone in my life. #rant# heheh jk #smiliepeace#
