I'm really bummed about missing the vigil. I have never been to one. Actually, I only found out about it four years ago. So I should have saved the money to get there before. But I will definitely be there next September. I'm gonna make sure I have the money to travel to Lafayette.

I,m really glad the band is trying to get things up and running again,( at this particular point, Travis has already left them) but I have to agree that it takes someone really special to still have so many affected by his loss. Shannon's shoes will be incredibly hard to fill; especially since he preferred not wearing any! There are good singers and there are the mind-blowing, life-altering, earth-shattering artists. Do you know where I'm comin' from?

I've been thinking about some of the things Brad has said about Shannon for some reason.Like when he said Shannon had an insatiable? appetite to Have Fun.Or when Brad said He'll talk about Shannon for the rest of his life cuz Shannon was just one of those type of Guys.I was also thinking about him big time at The NYE Show & the other 3 shows, like I'm sure all Melons do.

Ive been listening to Elton John and wondering with as much coke as that guy did and he didnt die, why couldnt Shannon have lived through that too. Well he is all places at all times now. How much more we all should have had listening to him. Shannons a big part of my life even though we had too little time with him. Amazing how He sustains me.

Question of the day 4/12/09!
What eating utensil did Shannon like to bend up as a necklace centerpiece and then give them away to friends?
If you know the answer be the first to PM me and you will be awarded with 5 Karma points or a Custom Title!

Did you ever wonder if it was something else that killed him besides just coke? Like coke combined with another drug. No one really knows what Shannon did that morning. He could have easily mixed heroin with his coke. Even an autopsy wouldn't know unless they tested for other drugs. Or maybe certain information was kept from the public.

If I'm not mistaken the first reports were that he died of a heroin overdose but then the facts were out that he had a lethal amount of cocaine in his body, I'm fairly sure they tested for other drugs, it's pretty standard. I think they would have released the information because a drug overdose is a drug overdose, there's really nothing to hide.

Yeah, the reports were heroin. I know that heroin had a hold on my man. It's a strong hold too, I know. Opiates are hell to kick, and I don't think you ever really kick them. When they have a hold on you, its easy to loose control of everything else. Nothing else matters.
....Right now, I don't want to die.

I feel for you but you can do it, there's a lot of people out there who've managed to kick it, it's not easy but reach out to people you love and trust, get help, most addicts are numbing themselves for a reason. For every addict who left this world there's countless others who've managed to turn their lives around. Join Narcotics Anonymous and you'll be surrounded with people who won't judge you and will be there for you. Also, this forum is a "good place"......

i really respect those of you who are willing to share about your own addiction. shannon's life has opened the door for alot of people to talk about addiction and the disease aspect of it. really, it doesnt matter if its coke, heroin, alcohol, pills or anything else really, in the end it will kill you if you dont face it and start on the long road to getting better, so like i said i respect and wish everyone dealing with addiction the best and i think shannon would be happy just to know that he's opened this up for alot of people...like he says.....you use everything...you use tragedy.....you use everything. what i was really thinkin about until i read all of these posts above me was how you could see the emotion in his eyes in every song he sang. ive never seen a video of shannon singing where i thought he was just acting or going through the motions.....i really feel like his music kept him alive....he definitely appeared to be sharing his soul in every song he sang.....

just wanted to say a big thanks to shannon and his music......it has helped me through many hard times, given me many, many happy times, and continues to reach way down deep into my soul to places i dont really like to let show. id love to say thank you to nel and his friends and family who help keep his music and inspiration so present for everyone to enjoy. shannon's music has led me to some of the greatest folks in the world that i probably would have never had the chance to come in contact with. im writing this tonight cause i might not get a chance tomorrow, but it takes someone very very special to touch as many people as he did in such a short amount of time.......there will never ever be another shannon hoon.....such a beautiful soul taken away from us way too soon....
and yes, you gotta do your best to decorate this dyin day.....this dyin day..... #hoonsmiley#

Shannon's memory will never fade away because his fans won't let that happen.
