OK Matt does this mean you have the scoop?? Do you know that they are going to be Blind Melon or Melon (since they sent the pic as Melon). I know it doesn't really matter but I'm freakin' goin' nuts (I guess the unknown is killin' me #gun# )

I,personally hope they keep the name as "Blind Melon". Melon just doesn't feel right...

Read the things Rogers writes in the new cd inserts...they will quell your fears. They will never play as BM again. They can't and they know it.

Whether they be called Blind Melon or Melon, it doesn't matter to me. I just wanna see these guys enjoying Blind Melon music again.

The four remaining members love writing and performing those songs. Why should they stop, ya know? Travis will probably get heeps of shit from people that only loved Melon for Shannon (yes, these people actually exsist). But hell, if Glen, Brad, Chris, and Rogers want to continue playing the music they loved, whose to say they can't? The band was a tight unit.. I bet Shannon would have wanted them to carry on the name and perform. I think Shannon would have wanted them to carry the Blind Melon torch as long as possible. Shannon loved his fans and loved the music. I don't think he would want either let down by stopping the Music after he left. |

I can't see them being Blind Melon, but then again, although I didn't know Shannon, I can't believe he wouldn't want them to play the music they all wrote together. This brings me to something else. If this new project does get off the ground, and they make a record, and they go on tour. How awesome would it be to hear them do a few melon tunes live.

I heard that during their first few sessions, they performed 10 Melon tunes.

Now that they are re-united with a new singer, they could call the band "Jedediah and his Team of Wild Hippopotamuses" and I would still be interested to hear the new music.
Music matters to me - not semantics. I don't care if they are Blind Melon, Melon, or something else. I think this kicks ass in every direction.
The Dead without Jerry won't use 'Grateful' anymore - they're just 'The Dead'. In my opinion, they could keep calling themselves the Grateful Dead until the cows came home, and it wouldn't matter one way or another.

I totally agree with most people here too. I wouldn't care if they went under the name 'Blind Melon' again or not...I'm just so happy that they have found that magic 'feeling' again & want to play together again. How many times did they audition for a new singer without success? This Travis Warren MUST BE REALLY GOOD for the band to re-form again - that's what gets me excited! They're not doing it because it's about time they did, it's because Travis has impressed them all and given them hunger to play Melon tunes again - it's so fantastic!
God, I hope someone gets a recording of their first show together >_<

I bet Capitol Records would really like them to keep the name Blind Melon cuz it's probably easier to promote an already known band
During the band search for a new singer after Shannon died, i remember they said they wanted to continue under a new name.
I personnaly wouldn't mind if they keep going with the name Blind Melon but maybe they should use the name Melon (like bobafett suggested it) so they would not hurt some of us who don't want em to use their original name
