hey, great and they're having fun but ,like, has anybody noticed that shannon won't be there? Why all my favorite bands are reuniting with such a "fuck the past" thing?!?

I assure you, everyone noticed Shannon won't be here. We discussed about all this a lot already. Look at it from the bright side: it's not a "fuck the past" thing, it's "we found someone perfect to play with, let's move on". Rogers said they'll be honoring Shannon on every show.
Now I hope no one will #chair# me because I replied to this post, lol.

I'm with Barbara, and I hope also that my reply will be taken as reassurance rather than rebuttal... If you do some digging on the subject of the band's reunion, you'll see that everyone involved is very mindful of Shannon and his work, through everything that's happening. It's clear that this is their way of carrying on the mission, not trying to replace the past with something else. Enjoy this time with us! No one's trying to forget the past here, I guarantee it. None of us could if we did try. We're celebrating Shannon's music every time we listen to Blind Melon, old or new.

hey everyone, didn't mean to sound that rude and i know the right words were said and all... it's just that when it comes to the reunion phase you know something will be put in perspective. Maybe i'm too "sentimental" but i wasn't ready to deal with a new singer... merry xmas everyone

I don't think you were rude. It's ok, a lot of people weren't ready for this. Actualy, I think no one was ready! I couldn't belive it when I found out! But then I guess some took it with happiness and excitement, others were dissapointed and sad and some were just confused and hesitating. I think it's normal, those were big news and totaly unexpected! We all love this band too much and we're all different so we also get different and strong reactions. I would just like, like a lot of other people, that everyone could embrace this with excitement and happiness. Of course I know never everyone will feel this way. But I still want to show the good side of it and maybe more and more people will celebrate this special moment. Shannon will ALWAYS stay with us. Someone who gave us all so much can NEVER be forgotten in any way. God bless him.

I was scared to death when I heard the news. I was convinced that anything they could possibly do would suck with some "impostor" singing. I just held on to the hope that somehow the new tunes would live up to the impossible ideal of Blind Melon-- and, thank God, it did! It's still very bittersweet, hearing them in this new light, but I'll gladly take the nostalgic reminders of what we lost along with the joy of bringing the music back to life!

I was also really "startled" when I heard they were getting back together, then I heard the new songs. Everything just seems to fit, it seems natural. Notfunnyanymore, if you go back and read some of Rogers and Glen's posts, they explain their thoughts on this whole, reunion thing. They really give the bands perspective. Go check it out. By the way, merry Christmas to you too.
