Very cool photos. It's so funny, I interviewed Brad when they were living in the house (this was months after the first time I interviewed Shannon) and he was telling me about the house and how they were writing songs there and playing at a bar nearby. This is not AT ALL how I pictured the house I TOTALLY thought "Sleepyhouse" was the house in the "I Wonder" video!!!! Brad extended an invite to me at the time to come hang out. I was a college student in Ohio with a car that was in bad, bad shape. There was no way I could have made that drive in my car and I didn't think to rent a car. Wish I would have now. Hi Chip, That is an awesome story. It would've been cool to hang out with them at the Sleepyhouse. But I was pretty much in the same situation in college - I had an unreliable vehicle and was scared to leave town. I want to say that I have heard that the 'I Wonder' video was filmed at the house of a friend of Brad's in West Point, Mississippi.

I had no idea the house would look like that either...every bit of photographic information I had that could possibly be it turned out not to be it. This is pretty much the reason why I wasn't sure I was going to the right place. Chip, I know you're probably kicking yourself in the ass for not taking Brad up on his invitation, but if it makes you feel any better Ohio is two day drive from Durham...that's a lot of miles to expect out of an unreliable vehicle. Thanks for sharing your story, you know we love to hear them!

Being newer than some I only found out about this recently after one of my countless all-nighters I have had looking up, listening, reading and learning about Blind Melon no other band has anything like this Sleepyhouse, nothing as magical or symbolic enough that is actually real and has not just a song named after it but is a period in time in the lives of all the band members.

I don't know that either of these two bands wrote a song about their experiences in a house, but the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane lived in houses together (one for each band, I mean) in the Haight-Ashbury section on San Fran. . .

If my husband and I ever make it to San Francisco we're definitely going to check out that part of town. If those walls could talk...

I thought they lived in that Sleepyhouse for awhile. ? Blind Melon did live in the Sleepyhouse for awhile in 1991. When we were talking about the Haight-Ashbury area of San Francisco we were referring to the house where the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane lived in the 60s. That was like their version of the Sleepyhouse...hanging out, getting high, and making music. Was that what you referring to in your question? Hope I could clear it up...

I thought you were saying that Blind Melon didn't live in their Sleepyhouse that was visited by a fan on here that I saw pictures of, I thought I read something that was unreliable anyway so I thought it could have been wrong and assumed you ment Blind Melon's Sleepyhouse. Thank you for caring enough to make sure another fan is not misinformed! : o)
