I know this has been asked here probably a zillion times before, but it's a very hard question for me to answer so I'm curious what you all will respond with. If you had to pick ONE and ONLY ONE favorite song from BM and ONE song that's your least favorite ... what would they be? Feel free to explain these choices, because it's very difficult to decide!!
MOST FAV: "Galaxie" This was so hard for me to decide!! I'm not even sure this one is the right decision but I'm thinking it is. I literally listen to this song every day at least 1-2 times a day. I love everything about it from the riffs you hear in the background to the dramatic ending. The way Shannon's vocals are doubled on the "you're leaving me with a hated identity" part always seems kinda haunting to me but it is so fucking awesome. I can relate so much to this song (in terms of galaxy like "my own world" instead of galaxie the car, but it could be about anything you make it really) and everytime I hear it this makes me feel better than I did before.
Close 2nd place would be "Walk" or "Lemonade". I almost picked "Lemonade" because it's such an under-appreciated song IMO, but that's not what this is about. I do think it's funny though when I read that members of the band don't care for that song, because I love that song so much and the ending part (the "jam" part) is one of my favorite parts of any song ever.
LEAST FAV: "New Life" I don't hate this song, I just can't relate to it at all. It's very thoughtful - sweet and sad when you think about what Shannon was singing about - but I think most Melon songs I like because I can relate to them, and this one I just can't. I like the music of it, though.

My least favorite is lemonade. My favorite is Glitch. I choose Glitch because it was an un discovered song that was given to CT and it really shows what the band coulda been doing had Shannon lived. I love all the drumming and the weird sounds in that song.

Mine is Deserted. I don't know what it is. First song of theirs I just really loved. And when I heard the "under pressure" version...I was floored! I love to listen to every single riff over riff and note after note of the jam session in that. Love how the time signatures change and slow in the end. It is very methodical. The middle of Time and end of Time do the same thing to me. I can listen to those parts of each song and it is an intense, building up, gritted teeth, shaking my head back-and-forth and then final mixed with a soothing, wholesome release.
Mel-erapy I guess.
Gosh, guess I need to bite the bullet and fly to NM in Feb.

My favourite at the moment is "Glitch." My least favourite (and probably ONLY Melon song I don't enjoy) is "Frosting a Cake," I'd actually go as far as saying I hate it! I can totally understand it not making the "Soup" record

I can totally understand it not making the "Soup" record I definitely understand why it didn't make the record but I like that track! I think it's probably one that Shannon did on crack (could that be the title "frosting a cake" reference for crack?) and it's just a crazy, psychedelic little jam like "Hell". Not a good SONG but a good outtake I believe.

I assume we're only talking Hoon era songs. If not, I don't really like any of the songs on For My Friends.
As for the orig.I can't pick just one. I'm really liking Wilt and Dump Truck. My least favorite would have to be either "The Duke" or "Swallowed" I don't have any specific reason I just always find myself skipping to the next song when they come up on my iPod.

As far as favorites I am a demo junkie so I must say: 1 - Mother 2 - What You Lost 3 - Change 4 - Seed To A Tree 5 - Hypnotized 6 - So High And I disagree with whoever said they didn't like FMF. I think that record was friggin amazing and just showed that the guys still had what it took to make a great record after all those years apart. THAT'S chemistry! No offense of course, you're entitled to your opinion too. #hoonsmiley#

All and nothing......Maybe Change, cause that was the song that opened my musical soul. The only song I will skip past is Pusher and thats only on Sundays or if my kids are in the car with me.

Wow, This Really is Tough Question. At One point in My Life, I could Not Have answered this. I Just Have too Many of the Melon Songs that I Can really relate to. I Love A Bunch of them! I Would Have to say That "Change" Has Grown to Be My Absolute Favorite over the Years, For several different reasons. 1. I feel That Change is a song of inspiration, A song of Never Losing Hope. I feel Like Shannon Probably wrote the song with that in Mind. Partially to give People Hope who were enduring Life with an uneasy mind, Partially as a song of Hope to Himself, During a time that was proving to be Very trying For Him. 2. Change is the BM Song that My Little Cousin Ryan and I used to Play togethor on Guitars Over and over, for Hours (with no-one else even there), Just letting it soak into our Souls. He Left this Life in 2005, and We Opted to Have the original Debut album Version Played (on CD) at His Funeral...You should have seen some of the Towns people's Faces when Rogers Went into that Solo! LOL. They Just didnt Understand Why We would Choose That Type of Music at a funeral in the South...Be we understood it Perfectly...Ryan would have wanted it That way, and this was HIS Gig... 3. I believe That Change was (in a lot of ways) The Beginning of Blind Melon. Even though Shannon wrote it Before Moving to Los Angeles(Where he Would Meet the other Members), It was the Alpha of the Big Picture. Shannon's Mother Nel heard Him Playing it through the Window At Home In Lafayette, and thats when she realized How Amazing and talented her Son really was. Without her faith and Support (She was The one Person He admired the Very Most), who is to say Shannon ever would Have Moved to L.A. to begin with. I Believe His Mother's Support for Him was a Large Factor, And Change was the Song that won Her heart to start with. Who Knows really, But It will Make you stop and think about what role the song Played in Shannons Desicions early on (Even if it was an indirect Influence). It was also the Song He played on Acoustic Guitar for the His Future Bandmates when He Met them, and It won them over. I Believe its reasonable to say there is atleast a remote chance that Blind Melon May Have Never Even existed if it Hadnt Been for the Powers Of "Change" in the Beginning???
My Least Favorite Would to Be 3 is a Magic Number? Maybe? I dont Hate it By any Means. I think It is Very Crafty, and I can see where other people can really Relate, But Personally for me...Not So Much. I Listen to It from time to Time,But I often skip to the Next track if it comes up. Very Few Melon Songs I ever Skip over.

I get why a lot you all can't decide on a favorite. I said "Galaxie" because it's one of my favorites, but really, like Matt said, that changes daily. And also like he said, the only part I really dislike about Melon songs is when I'm not hearing them! I still hear "New Life" on a pretty consistent basis because I usually listen to Soup through and through either in the house, in the car, on the MP3 player or anywhere else. XD
Now if I didn't limit myself to just ONE song, I'd say my 5 fav's (currently) are (in no particular order):
- Galaxie - Walk - Lemonade - Holyman - Soak the Sin
... but even that's hard to narrow down!!
Maybe we just all say there is NO WAY to pick just one...

How to choose a favorite....so hard. I think honestly....it would have to be Walk...that song still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
Least favorite would be Cheetum Street, only because it doesn't "feel" like a Blind Melon song...its more of a Travis song.

I have to go off topic for 1 moment on that note and ask, does anyone else think Cheetum Street would make a hell of a country music hit? I understand Mere about you feeling like it's TW's song but I still love it so much! I also agree it changes daily for favorites!

Tough! Blind melon is perhaps the only band whose every song I like but if I had to choose I'd go for Letters from a Porcupine for least fave...as for fave, I just cannot do it, I can't! In terms of meaning Soul One would have to be the most meaningful but then every day has its own Melon song.
