I never really got into the grudge scene back in its heyday, but the new reformation of Alice in Chains has me going back and listening to their old material with Layne Staley. I have heard A Looking In View and Check My Brain off the upcoming album and really enjoy them! I was just wondering if anyone else was following this reformation?

My sister and I were actually just talking about this the other day. I was HUGE into grunge (as much as I could be for growing up in cleveland & not seattle, which I plan to visit one day cuz it just seems that it would be beautiful) but I was more of a Pearl Jam/Mother Love Bone/Soundgarden/Nirvana girl (pearl jam mainly, I was in LOVE with Eddie and Jeff!)....for whatever reason, I didn't get into Alice in chains, I mean, I liked them, but I wasn't like crazy over them like I was the other bands....but I'm finding that the older I get, the more I love them! When I was pregnant, the only music my daughter reacted to was them.....she LOVED them! They just have such a great sound and great guitar and everything is just great! such a talented band!
I actually just started reading this book today, it's called 'Grunge is Dead" and the guy that "wrote" it, only wrote the intros....the entire book is all written from interviews with the bands! So far, I've only read the intro, but I'm impressed so far! I got it from the library, so check it out if you were/are a grunge fan!...you'd probably like it!

thanks for sharing. I may have to check that book out. Like I said I didn't really get into the grunge scene when it was big, but lately I have found myself listening to AIC and some others. I always love finding different music that I never really listened to.

me too. Im interested in hearing the song they played with Elton John...should be very different...I think it is called Black Gives Way to Blue which is also the album title. Supposedly that song is a tribute to Layne Staley.

I finally finished listening to the whole album.
This is an Alice in Chains album through and through. Though the last 4 songs sound similar to Jerry's solo stuff. At times it is hard to tell Layne's not there, at times it's easy to tell. My favorite song at this early stage is Last of My Kind. Overall, killer album. Thanks for making some new music AIC!!!!
