What was it that landed you in there? fair enough question since i did put my business out there..... 1) 4 and a half years in a Federal Penitentiary and 3 yrs probation which is all finallly over with.... 2) receiving marijuana in the US MAIL ...not a very wise thing to do at all.......... Much Melon Love & Respect Rachel woah!! that's a long time to be locked up for a non-violent offense. you must have a few good stories to tell.

Much Melon Love & Respect Rachel woah!! that's a long time to be locked up for a non-violent offense. you must have a few good stories to tell. far too long for what it was if i do say so myself. When the Feds get you they really nail you hard. The sentencing guidelines are tough...they use your past history against you to enhance your time. even though it seems like double jeopardy because you already paid for you past mistakes they make you pay again. then they enhance you even more if you refuse to cooperate with them... I aint no snitch and was quick to let them know that so they gave me the high end of the guidelines....but its all over now and such a relief ...I actually finnished up my probation this past week.....

Damn Rachel, That is a long time! Well now you can look forward to the future. Btw, you forgot your fav ice cream!haha
Now that I realize you are of Native American descent I have another question. I have to admit that if it's spooky, scary, ghosts, whatever, I'm interested. My ? has to do with hauntings that occur where there is a NA burial ground. Have you ever personally been involved in or connected to a situation such as that? Do you believe in those occurences, or feel that the spirits just move on? I hope you understand what I'm getting at, as I am not that good at posing questions! p.s. I just got a look at your tat;nice!

Thankyou for answering my questions Rachel....you're a cool chick! It was nice to learn something about your faith. Good picture of you with the tattoo....you're a lovely girl and of course, I adore your necklace, very nice work! Sorry it's such trouble to add me on myspace....if you're inclined to try again, my last name is Matlock, that should help!

Have you ever personally been involved in or connected to a situation such as that? Do you believe in those occurences, or feel that the spirits just move on? I hope you understand what I'm getting at, as I am not that good at posing questions! oh sorry i missed the fave ice cream. I would have to say the plain vanilla with lil Reece cups in it....and i like the sherbert orange flavor pushups!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as far as the Native spirits go is everything has a spirit including the rocks trees plants etc.....when we pass we all must leave this world and go to the spirit world . its said that the only thing that lasts forever is the rocks and they return to Mother Earth in the form of pebbles....the wisest of all Creation as theyve been around forever.......Now there are situations like the burial ground hauntings for the use of the word that you used. Kinda like the poltergeist movie.....but that would never happen. there are certain situations that will cause a spirit to come back and visit and mostly that is ceremony like the Sweat Lodge Ceremony as we ask them to come share their wisdom with us and to give us strength and courage , but thats far from a haunting of sort. the fact that Native Burials are considered highly sacred and therefore those areas are protected by the spirits ...but as far as being a haunting , I dont think so...now to go in more deep it is believed that my ancestors who have died a tragic death where they were dismembered ( which was a much used practice by the Europeans when they came here....actually way more "savage" than any native ever was ) their spirit couldnt move on especially if it was decapitation......I actually have a tattoo on my leg pertaining to this and i dont have a pic to post up right now but its a very small grave with 2 bones crossed sticking up from the ground with a natives skull on top and feathers hanging from the bones. and coming out of the ground is the spirit that is looking for closure so that they may pass on to the spirit world........1 more thing is in my beliefs is that there is only 1 more instance in which a spirit doesnt pass on is if they happen to die while being locked up in the iron houses ( prisons) if yoou die behind the wall n fences of a institution your spirit is confined there.....because you are in a place where it really isnt life in there or any kinda free life as was intended for us..........hauntings i have never been witness too persay in the Native culture but I have seen and felt the presence of the soirits of my ancestors in ceremnony.........awesome question by the way...... Thanks Sis! and Thanks Sis!the compliments are very nice....I love my tattoo . its my prized Shannon possesion even more so than my autographed pic of him because its not materialistic it actually has deep meaning not only for Shannon but it is a Navajo necklace and was meant for protection.....after he took it off and went with the cockroach necklace his life started to spiral out of control so i wanted it tatted on me so that it could never come off and remind me of the lessons we all have learned from this beautiful man who influenced all of us. ill sent a friend request your way when i go back on myspace.......... I saw a picture of the necklace tattoo. being heavily tattoo'd myself, i tip my hat to that one. it's well done. this thread got alot more interesting in the last 24 hours. prison, decapitation, tattoos & blind melon. Last night, I watched "deadliest warrior" on spike tv. (kickass new series) they pit the greated warriors through history against each other to see which one would win in a fight. on last nights episode, it was the roman gladiator vs the apache. the testing they did was awesome. in the end, the apache came out on top...barely. those guys were badass! my question... 1. did you see the show? 2. did you want to scalp me for my previous questions about a blond haired genius with massive teeth?

Im more into music than anything ...i usually turn the tv on to put me to sleep...lol.......and yes the Apache was one of the most fearsome tribes in history and i do love the Geronimo movie . 2) and no i dont believe ive ever wanted to scalp anyone....sidenote is that scalping was actually unknown to Native peoples until the Europeans came here....they actually were the ones to take scalps first to have something to count the kills of natives since a finger or ear or toe or anything else people have multiple of and the one thing we all have one of is our scalp......and they called my people savages.....lol..... Im glad this thread is alot more interesting Much Melon Love & Respect Rachel

of course I was kidding about the scalping. They did cover that on the show, but mainly with the description of the tomahawk. The show was awesome... on a sidenote, my grandparents used to live on manitoulin island (in the georgian bay). i spent my summers out there as a young lad. there's a large tribe of huron natives out there. i remember going to see traditional pow wows and ceremonies. looking back, it was very cool.

Pow Wow season is upon us soon. I can't wait to get out there and mingle with my fellow tribespeople.....thats cool you actually have been to a pow wow before....the drums n songs are my fave. all hte pretty dresses and how they are adorned really are in inspiration to see . so colorful and original in every piece...the beadwork alone can be quite tedious...especially the bigger pieces.....

Lovin this thread...Have you ever been on a kayak??? Oh I can say that I've never been on a kayak but I have been on a canoe , a speed boat , a few party liners ( the Gateway Clipper Fleet here in Pgh. ) a raft, a boathouse, and even inside a submarine that is on exhibit underwater here at the Buhl Science Center. Considering I come from the city with 3 Rivers and we have a Regatta here every summer I've been on plenty of different kinds of watercraft.. water skis and jet skis tooo...but no kayak...I've always wanted to though go white water rafting in West Virginia it is a pretty big deal there....I've even gone off a tarzan swing off the pier of the 40th street bridge as a kid into the allegheny river...wouldnt do it now the waters too polluted!!! much Melon Love & Respect Rachel

It's been a few days since someone asked me a question and Im a lil bored other than listening to a Melon show and cruising around on the forum......so Ill pose myself a question as I think about the mini vigil coming up and not going because I wanna make sure I can go in September............ I think of Lafayette and some of my experiences there and the sights and memories of "Hoontown" So my question would be what are some of my favorite things about Lafayette, Indiana other than being tied to Shannon....?
1) Feast of the Hunters Moon - I had my first taste of Buffalo there....plus the Native crafts are amazing.
2) Prophets Rock - very interesting place if I do say so myself...I still have a medicine bag with dirt & pebbles in it from there that my local friends gave me and it said it will always call me back or something like that....
3) the Custard stand.....I remember having an interview of Axls where he talked of the custard stand so I made it a point to visit it and have some custard and I thought it was so goood....
4)Vons store which is like a whole row of stores in West Lafayette....I remember going there and getting almost anything there like a mini squashblossom necklace & crystals .
I actually lived there for a lil while twice in the 90s in the hotel that had the Damons restaurant there although its not a Damons any longer from what I hear??? I actually had hired Axl Roses Uncle and he didnt have any restaurant experience at all..... I just hired him due to who he was......wow as i reflect there were so many great memories of which I feel fortunate to have had the pleasure to enjoy it.
I just thought Id share a little as I was thinking of Hoontown Much Melon Love & Respect Rachel

We are having some backashwards weather lately around here. Just wondering if you have a favorite season? and how has the weather been in your area lately? #hoonsmiley# Well lets see here first of all I have to say is I need all 4 seasons for balance in my life....Im not sure I could live anywhere where its mostly summer or winter......but my absolute favorite season would have to be fall(Autumn) and following secondly is spring. I love the fall the Autumnal equinox is a very powerful time of year its the direction of the west and its where we get our strength & courage from. things seem more balanced then. Plus the trees get all bright & colorful! also Halloween is in the fall..... the weather here cant seem to make up its mind one day its snowing the next its 60-70 degrees out....... good question on the seasons though.
