Hey Rachel, Congratulations to you! Here's my question(s): When did you get into recording? What recording equipment do you use for shows these days? Do you have any particularly interesting recording stories? well since being a small child and getting my first tape recorder i was recording all kinds of things. I remember making my own radio dj shows on cassettes where id act like a dj and have pretend interviews with artists and stuff. i was always playing around with my tape recorder in lots of ways. it was so fun. when i got into taping live shows was around 1999 and i always wanted to know the process and how to go about getting permission from the bands and all that. I met quite a few tapers over the years who refused to show me the ropes until i met my friend Jason and he was still taping analog and swears by it. so we were always going to shows and hed never get to enjoy the shows by dancing or getting the chance to see the bands upclose he started letting me help so i was actually taping shows for him while he finally got the chance to run off and enjoy the festivals for a change. then i looked into getting some equipment of my own so i bought a Sony TC-D5 analog deck ( top of the line for analog) and Jason gave me his old mic stand and Sony ecm mics to use and i was off to the races. so although i taped many shows using his gear my first show with mine going solo was Blind Melon @ Diesel and when my mic cables were messing up i was like theres noone to turn to for troubleshooting so i did my best to keep taping and was ashamed @ what the recording sounded like. another taper there recorded 2 diff rigs of that show and would be considered a hoarder as though he promised me a copy i never heard from him again, as he knew he had the only good recording of the show! i do use the Maxell XL II S series casettes but you cant buy those anymore but i have access to 100 of them. i transfer to digital using my Pioneer tape deck to my Sony cd recorder so the shows you hear are not doctored in any way you get exactly what the show sounded like from the vantage point of my mic stands.....the last part of the question would be interesting recording stories... i have tons of stories every show is special and when youre taping shows you get to meet lotsa interesting people. people you may not have gotten the chance to meet if not for " how can i get a copy of the show? " and the opportunities to present the Bands with a copy of the show is very rewarding to me, not to mention getting to meet bands makes it quite personal for me. Getting to tape the soundcheck @ Blend in NJ is prolly my favorite experience of all. itd be hard to beat having my own private melon show , unless is was a Shannon private show....no offense Travis ( never even dreamed of that and I loved every second the tape was rolling as i felt i tapped into the magic that happens behind the scenes ) Its definitely one of my favorite moments to cherrish forever. great questions though Ryan I gotta hand it to ya..... Much Melon Love & Respect Rachel

Hi Rachel! Did you catch the Perez Hilton blog about Gary Busey flipping out over losing the MOM election by a technicality? Here is a picture of Gary when he originally heard he was leading the vote. www.buseyworld.com/gphuge.htm

My question is am I the only one who thinks or do you think so too that Yves, Tamara and Vicki need to grow the fuck up and stop being little bitches, and stop making a mockery of this forum and stop disrespecting you and everyone else here ? And grow the fuck up and act like an adult and not a little fucken two year old. Or should they all just get a life?

It was kinda funny at first... but pretty much got old and sad pretty quick. so.... now that i'm here in THIS thread, i suppose i am to ask a question. Rachel..... name 3 of your favorite movies, and a brief explanation as to why they are your favorite.

Ok this too is getting out of hand. Please respect Rachel's thread, there is no need to bring any drama here. I think the other mods did a pretty excellent job explaining why the GB votes weren't honored and if you have a problem with it, feel free to PM us and we'll explain again. Now please, let's stop this because it's starting to look more like trolling which is not allowed here. You can start your own thread and talk about Gary Busey all you like, but please be mature and considerate of others. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rach, do you like to read? If so, what are some favorite books? What is your favorite American city and why? Oh and what is your biggest dream?

Or should they all just get a life? the joke was just what it was a joke.. hahahaha but when it comes to disrespecting an individual it becomes harassment. I tried to take it in stride but it did get out of hand. I will refuse to comment on the character of people. I have been in the Melon community since just about the beginning and felt Id never be direspected by my peers. This has changed and Im sure Shannon would be ashamed of some of the behaviors diaplayed on these pages. We come here in Unity and somehow that seems to have gotten lost or maybe some people never had it to begin with. I do feel disrespected for no just cause whatsoever? I dont even know these people n they sure as hell dont know me but if theyd ask real questions theyd be able to find out. They lost that chance now as i refuse to answer anything posted here by either of them. I hope this answers the question my friend and thanks for being you...Much Melon Love & Respect Rachel

Rachel..... name 3 of your favorite movies, and a brief explanation as to why they are your favorite. first off thanks Matt for your support! luvsya too much! 3 fave movies would be 1) a Man Called Horse - w/ Richard Harris reason this is #1 is this is the very first movie about Native Americans that was truly depicted from the culture to clothing and the Lakota language. 2) Star Wars IV a new hope - ok so i grew up on this and wow I went to the theater to see this when it originally came out and it was so fascinating. Who knew it would be the "Empire" it is today. 3) Pulp Fiction - whats not to say about this movie? so many awesome quotes from this movie and how the story is told is brilliant.... so thats my top 3 although i do feel Return of the Jedi was better than episode IV the first one was just an exciting time to be a child when life still held it's innocence..... Rachel, just quickly, I do apologize for carrying the gary busey joke into your thread. I read your response to tamara as going along with it, so I joked again. no disrespect was intended, and I'm sorry you read it as you did. honestly, it was just silliness, I'm not even sure why so many people chose to get so offended by it instead of just ignoring. it wasn't trolling, or at least not doing it intentionally, at all. at any rate, I'll keep any joking out of your threads from here on in.

If so, what are some favorite books? What is your favorite American city and why? Oh and what is your biggest dream? Thank You Tons Gabbee I love you too much! good questions by the way. Yes i do read books . not so much as i used to but some of my faves are 1) Ishmael an adventure of the mind and spirit by Daniel Quinn. i was turned on to this book by a fellow Melon sis named Anna Skye and I absolutely loved this book. I highly reccomend it to anyone. 2) any books on true accounts of Native Spirituality. 3) poetry of all kinds. Fave American City is def not Pittsburgh where i live ,,,lol if it has to be a city Id have to say New Orleans is so much fun and thers always something to do like drink handgranades....but if its anywhere in the US that I love more than anything itd be the Black Hills in South Dakota the spirits are strong there and its where the vision quests happen. My Biggest Dream would probably be something simple after all Ive been through but I would love to have property of my own to have a Sacred Sweat Lodge and to be able to pass on the knowledge to future generations of the Native culture so that it doesnt die. Knowledge only has its power when given to others otherwise its useless. My ancestors fought and died for these ceremonies and rites and how can I let them die with my generation? ? so yeah to teach others what has been given to me is my biggest dream.... again thanks Gabbee for all that you are to me. I love you too much! Much Melon Love & Respect your sis 4eva ...Rach

Much Melon Love & Respect...Rachel
