when shannon was little he had alot of toy dumptrucks so thats part of it.
"New York City soothing my itchy itchy month of May"
^^ Sad to say but about herion. I know he recorded most of Soup in New York City, witch is crazy lol, I dont think he did much recording in kingsways, just smoked alot of crack is my guess.
"Time has passed for Ms. Onassis, decay on display"
^^ I know its in the book, I don't have my book in front of me, but its about a friend of Shannons dieing, I wish I could remember who. if you got the book, look it up, because i know it was something kewl.

It's not about heroin, Shannon would probably say it's about whatever you what it to be about LOL "You" being the listener, so in that case maybe it is about heroin, Cody! LOL FYI- Shannon recorded NONE of Soup (LOL) in New York City!!!?!!! He recorded Soup at Kingsway with everybody else and he wasn't "smokin crack" everyday. If that's the image you have in your head it's false. He got up everyday and worked, and he left us with an amazing album to show for it! Yeah Shannon partied but not like you might think, remember, he got work done - people that are smoking crack everyday are doing just that, smoking crack everyday. I know, I know (yes, I meant to repeat myself) There's a quote floating around that Shannon said, he hardly had any recollection of recording the Soup record; Shannon liked to exaggerate, not to say that Shannon wasn't acting out of control at times down there, but he was working too. The smoking crack everyday image is just not reality you can believe what you want, but it defies logic! So to clarify, he wasn't smokin' crack everyday and he recorded NONE of Soup in NYC. Soup was MASTERED in New York City by Howie Weinberg. Shannon did record, 3 is the magic number in New York in March of 95. ...and Yes, Shannon had dump trucks when he was little, you were right about that "Lemonade" LOL. Thanks!

I dont know where you are getting your info from, but when you read the book, its says clearly in there that Shannnon didnt do much recording in Kingsway, he did 90% of his vocals for the Soup album in New York. I love Shannon to death, but the fact of it is, he had a drug problem, and Glenn I'm sure can verifie this because he is the one that says it, He was ALWAYS smoken crack or doing coke at Kingsway to the point that Shannon just had his dealer hang around Kingsway. He had a severe crack additction. Yeah I'm blunt when I say it because I hope it scares the shit outta someone who is doing drugs to the point where they stop because they seen what it did to Shannon, Yeah its not pretty to think about but Shannon smoked ALOT of crack. And If I knew you real name, I would put it into quotes too.

Only book I read was "Stairway to Heaven" .... Brilliant!
Working on the Shannon/Melon book now... I swear, even when I'm watching a movie that I am REALLY into, I think of something that needs to be done.... So, I put it down (or push pause) and do other things..

I was gonna post the quote, but I'm new at this and haven't figured out how to get a quote from one thread to another. Anyway, check out the Shannon thread, topic "Nicesite". It was posted a year ago yesterday by Brick.

I was gonna post the quote, but I'm new at this and haven't figured out how to get a quote from one thread to another. Anyway, check out the Shannon thread, topic "Nicesite". It was posted a year ago yesterday by Brick. Here is the post... I am from Lafayette, I went to High School with Shannon...He was one of those bigger than life dudes who died too young. A lot of people around here miss him. In our generation we had Axle Rose "Bill Baily", Izzy Stradlin "Jeff Isabelle", and Shannon come out of this little hick town. Man we had some great Party's here in the late 80's/early 90's. I remember when Shannon and Mike Kelsey "local guitar genius" were jammin' in a band called Stiff Kitten in a basement by Battleground. I recommend trying to get a hold of some of Mikes solo stuff, he has a unique sound. He's a cool dude too. He could have made a huge career if he woulda made it out of this town. I was in a garage band jammin about a mile from Shannons grave when all the memorial's for Shannon were going on, I remember all the VW's commin' through town every year. My grandpa's grave is about 20 feet from his. One of my favorite songs from Shannon was Dump Truck. It was about a friend of mine named Bub. I remember when he got hired on with the county driving a Dumptruck. Bub developed cancer and was getting treatment in New York.. he died shortly after. Mrs. Onasis was a reference to Bub's girlfriend. Jackie loved the hell out of Bub..I loved the hell out of her. We were friends for many years and life kinda faded us apart. I remember skippin school and quite a bit of partyin' with Bub. "Bub I know that you could fly a mile high" Shannon Hoon I hav'nt looked in a few years but last time I checked I think that Caddilac was still sittin' in the back. I was in the local bricklayers union with Dick Hoon, Shannons Dad, I never worked on the same job but knew of him. Met his mom a few times before he died. I went to a garage sale at her house and she showed us the No Rain video before it came out on MTV. She was proud as hell of him. My last memory of Shannon was driving by his Mom's house. He was home visiting. I saw him sittin in her driveway jammin' on his accoustic. I didnt want to bug him so I did'nt stop. I wish I would have. Well enough ramblin' my wifes yelling for me. I stumbled on this site and thought I would share my story. I would like to thank the people who keep it up. I need to show it to her she will love it. She hung out with him a lot before he left town. Cya, Brick

speaking of witch, the whole thing in Soup where Shannon is saying "All Over A Bowl Of Bitter Beans" that has to do with Bub as well, he was sick with cancer and couldnt eat, and looked skinny as hell and Shannon asked him why he wasnt eating and he told Shannon everything tasted like Bitter Beans....
