Unbelievable show. I never thought Blind Melon would ever come to Columbia, so this was a very nice change of pace after driving to Charlotte twice to see them.
While we were driving through the parking lot before the show (around 7 pm or so), we saw Travis walking around near the bus, talking on a cell phone. Me and my buddy instantly turned into teenaged girls and rolled down the windows to wave at him. He smiled and waved back even though I'm sure we interrupted something important, haha.
We got there as early as possible so we could be up front...we ended up being 3rd and 4th in line at the door. We went inside, bought some drinks, and bought some shirts. They've got a really sweet new logo with an octopus on it, so I had to buy one. From there, we took our spots right in front of the stage. We ended up being directly in front of Rogers, which was a treat. He definitely gives you your money's worth, and then some, when he's on the stage.
Analog Moon wasn't a bad opener...probably had too many extended guitar solos, but I didn't mind. Being on the far right side of the stage, I couldn't really hear the singer, but they seemed pretty good.
Blind Melon was incredible. I'd say more about the show, but there aren't really a whole lot of words I can come up with right now to describe it. They were just great.

Just incredible. I took some pictures...if they come out decent, I'll post them here. I'll need to brighten them a bit since I didn't use the flash. I didn't really know the picture taking etiquette at concerts, but I figured I'd be on the safe side and not flash Rogers in the face from 8 inches away during a nasty solo.
To anyone who went: I was in the bright yellow shirt directly in front of Rogers...if you had to hear me sing or see me dance, I apologize, hahahaha.
Afterwards, we both bought tour posters and all the guys came around to sign them and shake hands and talk with us. I don't follow a whole lot of bands that will do that with their fans after shows. I really hope they come back to Columbia again sometime. This town needs some more Blind Melon.

Next time I'll definitely go with the flash then...Pretty much all of the pictures I took were when there was plenty of light around, and my camera has a little indicator that blinks if it's too dark, so I think they should be ok.
At both of the Charlotte shows I went to, I was over by Brad and Chris, so I wasn't too familiar with Rogers' mannerisms...he's a riot!

Sonya and I were the second and third in line because there was guest list issues again. I guess Sonya just doesn't have the pull I thought she has j/k I did see your boy Connie before the show and gave him a shout out. He was really funny because he came out before the encore to promote the merch signing at the end...it was great! I will have to show you a pic of Gabriel in the fake glasses and nose. We ran into some roadtrip problems as usual. Sonya texted me as I got off the plane to tell me that here tire blew out 10 min away from the airport. So she spent 2 hrs waiting for the tire guys to replace her tires while I rotted at the Raleigh airport. We were on a little time crunch after that so we drove straight to Columbia. The hotel was right down the street from the venue so walked down the street and couldn't find it. Thanks to CT for pointing us in the right direction. We walked right past the front door and ended up behind the venue, still clueless as to how to get in. We saw Travis outside the bus and had to ask him to help us (Sorry for bothering you before the show man...we were just lost ;D) Garald ended up showing us to the front door and helped us straighten out the guest list situation. Thanks dude, you rock! #thumb# The show was unbelievable. My three days of voice recovery proved futile because I lost the rest of my voice again yesterday, probably screaming Wilt (thanks guys for playing that, btw) I had an unbelievable headache throughout most of the show but I had a great time anyway. It was great seeing new and old melons at the show. I can't wait to see the video that Heather shot because I had my eyes closed throughout most of the show. We got to talk to Travis, Rogers and Brad after the show, which is always cool. We always had the opportunity to talk to Brooks and Tara...awesome! Although Tara broke my heart when she told me that she thought of me during the show on Monday because they really jammed out during a few songs and I wasn't there. At this point I should just be at every show...it just makes more sense. Pics to follow shortly

I'll post my review later today. My parents have been here dropping off the kids and they're leaving in a couple hours. I have been sneaking away to at least be able to post pics and make some quick posts.
