For some reason I would really like to hear BM re-record some of their older songs with Travis on vocals. Definitely not a note for note reproduction but switch it up in some way.

Really? Personally I wouldn't care for it. I think that the old recordings should stay Shannon's, no offense to Travis. I'm content with hearing Travis make each song his own when he sings it live. I think that they are capable of creating new music and should continue to do that. Re-recording old stuff would do nothing but fuel the Travis-haters.

That would be an all around bad idea. Besides, there are tons of shows floating around with Travis singing the old stuff.

I wouldn't mind if they did it and made it available for free, like online or something but it wouldn't be cool if they sold it, then they're profiting off of shannon.

I know it is a crazy idea and I fully expected some people to be turned off by it. I am a little surprised at the total lack of interest in the idea, why would it be any different than people covering BM on the tribute CD, after all, Travis is just paying tribute every night they play. I enjoy the live versions with Travis but until we get clean, soundboard quality recordings it really doesn't do him justice and represent what an amazing job he is doing on the old tunes. The thing is, I am sure that they have already re-recorded the songs, when they were working them out to take it out on the road I am sure they had a recorder going, I am just saying I would love to hear it.

When you hear those songs on the tribute album you have a diversity of bands from all parts of the world and it takes on a whole new perspective... To have the same exact band recording the same exact songs just with a new singer would indeed feel like replacing Shannon and I'm sure that's not their goal. If they ever decided to do this I would try to keep an open mind but I can't say the idea appeals to me... To each their own though.

I'm content with the live recordings with Travis singing the old songs. Me too. ;D I don't think you are crazy, its a valid thing to question. If the band did that I wouldn't be offended or anything but I feel personally that as far as recording anything they should move forward not backward, I'm excited to hear new Blind Melon!

Let them stay how they are. Live renditions are enough.

Even I questioned my own sanity on this but I really admire Travis and I still see nothing wrong with wanting to here him sing some of my favorites songs in the world in a nice clean recording.
