HI GUYS!!!! I am new to this forum.. Blind Melon have been such a big part of my life I love them with the passion of a thousand fires haha. They have been a huge inspiration to me as a musician and also in life, my own perception of there lyrics... lyrical brilliance. But Shannon's voice ...Oh my God, nothing can ever compare. I don't think I will ever hear another singer that can jump as far in to someones soul as him. The Raw expression of pure emotion and such a range.. The crackle is just the icing on the cake ... and that's some class A fucking icing man! Attachments:

Sometimes when I feel my life sucks, I go and find Shannon's voice. Just a song, a quote, ore even one of his amazing interviews, when he talks I can calm down and stand with both my feet on the earth again. Can't imagine how my life would be without Blind Melon. Even though that may sound really cliché, it's true Attachments:

I hate to admit I was just a casual Blind Melon fan who is just now "re-discovering" this group. I'm embarrassed to also admit that the magnitude in the tragedy of losing Shannon Hoon is really fully hitting me now.
I have found I had some things in common between Shannon Hoon and myself as I graduated HS one year before him and in Oct of 1995 I had a girlfriend and new toddler and he played the kind of music I listened to but I had two jobs and was playing football so at the time I wasn't into music heavily then, consequently I knew Change and No Rain but not their whole debut album and Soup I totally wiffed on. I feel like I practically missed the Blind Melon era and to find it now although enjoyable, is also sad.
To now see the magnitude of their touring, how great their live preformances are and how much music they had to still come if Shannon had lived.......blows me away. Not to mention Shannon dying in the prime of his life missing out on his new family and daughter.
I am learning the whole Blind Melon catalog of music now and read some articles and one thing that sticks out in my mind is the comment about the band not yet reaching their full potential. Although I really enjoy what they did finish and put out I can see so much more was to come. They are so great live I don't think they ever really hit their stride.
I really liked their 94' Woodstock show, Shannon was in rare form and the band sounded great. Imagine how many more songs and shows they would have cranked out in the last 19-years.

it was ironic that that person compared his voice to a cake because he sang a song named after a cake
