When I was 6 years old, I heard "No Rain" for the first time. I was sitting in the car with my dad on the way home from Cincinnati. He started talking about how he was good friends with Shannon in high school and how he attended the showing when he died. I fell in love with the song right away, and I vaguely remember digging through boxes of CD's in the basement for the self-titled album. Now, over a decade later, I'm proud to call myself an avid Melonhead. I really started getting into all of Blind Melon's work 3 years ago. I've basically memorized every album. I've heard all kinds of crazy stories about high-school Shannon from my dad, which always leave me smiling huge. I went to my first Vigil last year. For the first time in my life, I felt like i belonged somewhere I didn't even know anyone. Playing songs around Shannon's and Tim's graves brought me down to earth like I've never felt before. Definitely plan on going to the Vigil every year as long as it's around. Blind Melon's music is some of the only music I've ever truly connected with. It helped me through an incredibly hard time, and I'll always have that tight emotional connection with it. Can't wait to see them at the Indiana State Fair August 5th ;D RIP Shannon
