Yeh I think they are secretly working on a few songs atleast. Travis had a ton of his own stuff and songs like Nervous Nelly and Samantha's Play would make great Melon songs!

I voted "Don't care, without Shannon nothing is the same" I don't mean to discredit the other band members for they are all extremely talented but Blind Melon without Shannon is like pizza without the cheese. I'm disappointed that they replaced Hoon and carried on without him.
Let the flaming begin.

I just said yes. I don't think they are intentionally doing anything secretly, but I do think they have lots of stuff going on in their lives so it might not be in their forefront, especially since Travis is up in the air, as far as we know. However, they are musicians and music is a huge part of their life, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were always working on songs, regardless of whether or not they intended to put them on a CD.

would love for them to do so, I voted yes although I have no clue what they are doing record/writing-wise, but Brad is realeasing his own album soon so I think he is a little busy ATM, Sure Blind Melon Isn't the same without Shannon, but didn't it fell SO GOOD when you opened your "for my friends" cd for the first time?? fuck i cant wait if they record another album!

Ok, there must be something wrong with me bc I didn't feel good opening FMF cd. I was sad. Don't misunderstand, I'm all for the band moving on. I just think they should have changed their name. That is what CT and RS said they were going to do after Shannon died. Ok so they went off and did their own gigs with other bands and then united with Travis. Why call the band BM? They are not Blind Melon!! Sometimes I think they are just looking to cash in on the name. Sorry. I don't want to offend other melons it's JMHO.

Kimberly, I Love You...But I will be the First to "Flame" You on this one. LOL. They decided to call it Blind Melon because Everyone was gonna refer to them as "The Band Formerly Known as Blind Melon" anyways. Plus They said they realized that Travis could slind Melon Songs in His sleep, Plus he was well suited for working on new Music with the Band. Does Travis Sound JUST LIKE Shannon on the old Stuff? NO. But he does sound alot closer than i would, so I cant argue with the Guys...Right? This Has been my Main argument to those who cant get behind this "New Blind Melon Lineup". If The Mother of the one and only Shannon Hoon can put out a statement Showing 100% Support for this Whole idea, then what Shannon Fan Has the right to say its wrong? With that being said, I want to remind you that your opinion is Welocme, just trying to show the other side of the coin. We are all individuals, and the beauty of Being individuals is that we are all free to think as we wish. I respect you and your opinion, but strongly disagree. Much Love and Respect None-the-Less....

Sometimes I think they are just looking to cash in on the name. Sorry. I don't want to offend other melons it's JMHO. They have every right to. This whole debate has played itself out on this board before. I am sorry for those who don't enjoy the Travis incarnation of the band. Even if Shannon was still around and BM was still making music with him it would not be the same. Believe it or not there are many who are fans of the band for more than Shannon, I love the musicianship first and foremost. CT and Rogers amazing synergy, Brad's sweet base and Glen's amazing feel. "For My Friends" is in my playlist and there isn't a single song I skip over and I get something new every time I hear it (thanks BM). As for Travis T. Warren, I know exactly why he was able to pull them together, his work prior to BM, with BM and on the side from BM has expanded my listening pleasure immensely, the guy is an amazing songwriter/musician. I am looking forward to seeing them June 18th at Slinger Rocks. I just hope a lot of fellow melons make it there to really bring the vibe.

Like I said gentlemen, this is JMHO. Everyone is entitled to their feelings and has the liberty to voice them. I respect yours, thank you for respecting mine. However, it's highly unlikely that I will ever change my opinion. I've felt this way for years. I will admit that I wish I could be comfortable with another front runner but, I'm just not.

Kimberly,
I can only think of one band that continued with a new singer after the death of the first that didn't bother me and that would be AC/DC. Replacing lead singers is a very dangerous business (Sammy Hagar comes to mind). I have a proposition for you. Come to a show, pm me on the forum in advance and I will have two tickets and two passes waiting for you at will call and you will have an opportunity to evaluate us in person. You may still hate it, but you might be pleasantly surprised. Also, we would all have a chance to meet you.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Glen

i loooooooooooooooooooove shannon hoon and saw them in 1993. i was scared to get the new album at first, but curiosity got me! the first strum of that melon guitar sounded so good. the songs are different but still blind melon. they have evolved as musicians....they would sound different now even with shannon. its not worth me repeating how i feel over and over so i wont. i think travis is fantastic. they are blind melon. the live show then and now is magic! i totally respect others feelings......we all have an emotional attatchment to these songs.....but as long as ive got 4/5 of the original members in the band, i agree that it is what it is...and it is blind melon (to me) oh and GLEN ROCKS!!! oh, and i voted yes.....

Thank you Glen. You made my mouth drop.
I would like to clarify that I never said I hated the new BM. I just wasn't impressed with FMF. So, with that being said I hope I just didn't just screw myself out of the offer. I would love to see you guys. I will keep on the look out for a Portland/Seattle show.
