He was one of the top pole vaulters in Indiana, and a really good football player, why didn't Shannon receive any college scholarships to play sports?

Just a guess... maybe he didn't play throughout HS?? Maybe only his freshman/sophmore year? I remember reading somewhere that his grades weren't the greatest to continue with sports or did he give up sports once he joined Stiff Kytten?

He was one of the top pole vaulters in Indiana, and a really good football player, why didn't Shannon receive any college scholarships to play sports? You can be an excellent high school athlete and still not receive athletic scholarships. For example, he may have been a solid safety or linebacker, but it could have been because the conference he played in wasn't very competitive. Also, his measurables or whatever talent he had may not have been transferable to football, specifically Division 1. There are other intangible factors that contribute to this and I doubt Shannon was an elite enough athlete to cut it as far as football goes... Pole Vaulting and wrestling are another story because I have very limited knowledge on the college recruiting process in those sports and the sports themselves... but who wants to be a pole vaulter?

I Think its Likely Because Shannons Grades and "Behavior" werent at The Same Level as His Athletic abilities. Thats Just My Guess. As JamBeatnik Said, There are Many factors That Play into these kind of Things. I can definately Say that He didnt Quit Sports After Joining Styff Kytten. Shannon Had already Graduated School when He was ask to Sing in His First Band. I Think he even spent some Time At Odd jobs, and Battling with The Lafayette police Dept. Before He was introduced to what would someday be His "Career".
