wooohoooo! I WILL be there this year (I cannot even express how bummed out I was when things fell thru)...we're driving from Massachusetts- unless gas prices stay at the crazyness that they currently are it might be cheaper to bus or train it there. We'll see but my hubby & I will be there no matter what this year!!!

Same here jessejames! This will be My First Vigil too , And God Willing, I'll be there. I don't really know what to expect, but I've seen Vigil footage on youtube & I get a feeling of Love,Peace,Friendship,Harmony, all gathered around Shannon & Singing & Jammin, all the Amazing Blind Melon songs, that have brought us Happiness,Comfort, Soothing & just plain old, Rockin out, Fun Times! I can't wait to meet all the Incredible Melons, I have come to know & everyone, I've yet to know! Lately this Vigil is one of the main things keeping me going .

I can also relate to the first "walk towards Shannon's grave". It was so surreal like a dream. I will definitely never forget it. What I will never forget was the rose bush with the beautiful red rose on it that was pointed directly straight up at the sky kinda like "yea theres a very special persons soul lying here" and he is resting pecefully in Heaven!

Wow Suzanne65, That was Absolutely Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing, that lovely moment from your Heart. As I read your words, the sun burst through my window, with all it's Brilliant Rays. Due to your Inspiration, I think this is gonna be a Good Day. Thank you for that. Lisa

i'll be there again. 2008 was my first. (and to make it better i met JOEL haha!) I get a bit impatient and excited.... so i usually get there Wednesday before.
I cant wait to see all the people again.. and all the new people. Jessejames... it IS amazing. To lots of people, on the outside lookin in ... they cant understand WHY you would want to go CLEAR to INDIANA (from wherever), and go to spend time in a graveyard. and actually possibly SLEEP there?!! WTF! ---
but I liken it to this: Its like a yearly family reunion with a BIG family that you actually look forward to seeing. Some people are always there, some come some years and not others. Some you might not care for, some you absolutely cant wait til the next time you see them. There are men, women, children, and dogs of all ages.
and i've seen people that have came with melonheads to tag-a-long.. and left "GETTING IT".
Many favorite memories, but one that i can still picture vividly. My second year, at night... sort of "quiet time".... in the tent, all the candles, all the people. and thru past times of spending time with Nel, and also the same time the prior year... i had heard many many stories of Shannon. So while Nel was spitting out stories, i just looked around the tent and saw the faces of the people. Hanging on her words. the EYES and SMILES of everyone, especially the newcomers, was priceless.
so... I'll see ya'll there! Once you go, you wont want to leave, and you wont want to miss another.

it is just like a family reunion.....except the folks are super cool. ive only been to 2. the first one was surreal. thats just the only way to put it. i was still tying to process the whole thing weeks after i got home. last year was even better because i knew the faces and kept in touch. i met so many people that i know i will stay in touch with forever. such a weird cool connection. and nel. oh my gosh! you dont even know till you meet her. she has such a sweet spirit. she is so kind and welcoming to everyone. shes also hilarious! such a great time. if you love shannon hoon, this is something youll be so glad you did. i think its so cool that so much joy, positivity, laughter, creativity, and magic still surrounds him. i tell you after vigil, its a looooooong 365! i miss my friends!! miss you twizted3! 148 days!! woohoo!oh, and i want to meet joel!

I'm sure I, as well as many others, could go on.. and on... and on.... but that was the best way i could sum it up and maybe give some kind of understanding.
