So If Anyone Hasnt Heard, Mike Star (Former Alice in Chains Bassist for Facelift and Dirt) was found dead in his Salt Lake City Home two days ago. Any thoughts? Apparently It was an overdose yet, Toxicology reports wont come back for two months....All I can say is that, Now maybe Layne has someone to hangout with up there.

According to TMZ*, his roommate said he was on methadone trying to get sober and had taken both that and anti-anxiety medication hours before he died. RIP *love 'em or hate 'em, a (for the most part) credible source

Sorry To Hear That Yet another Talented Musician Has Died Way Too Young...R.I.P. Mike Star!
That Methadone is Powerful Stuff in itself, and I cant even imagine mixing anything else with it. I only took the drug one time, and it made me feel like SUPERMAN for 2 Hours, Then I was as Sick as a Dog for the Next 10 Hours. That was the end of My Methadone Days. I decided I Could Get Clean, Be sick to my Stomach, and Miserable without spending $20 a day for That Stuff. I Thank God everyday That I was able to overcome My addiction. Many Men Never Get to experience The feeling of overcoming their Demons. Its still an everyday Battle, even after 6 Years, But its The Demise of Guys Like Shannon Hoon, Layne Staley, and Now Mike Star That Constantly Remind Me That I Never want to Go Back there again.

This is a bummer. My regards go out to his friends, and family.
The bassline for Would? is one of the most powerful basslines in all of music (in my opinion).

What The __??!!! How many gifted, beautiful souled people, that have made a such a difference to so many of us in this world, are we gonna lose before Everybody gets it?! DRUGS KILL!!!! They don't solve anything. They may give you the illusion that your pain, fear, boredom.worries, tiredness and whatever other reasons/excuses one comes up with. But in the END that's all you really have is another problem.. A habit you have to battle on top of whatever problems you were trying to escape from in the first place!! I apologize for going off like that but I guess I just had to vent a bit. Drugs killed SHANNON because of drugs we will never get to see Shannon in concert {in person} again. I personally wasn't blessed with the chance to meet and talk with him & feel the happy, powerful energy, warmth and love that so many have spoke of when they met him. Everyone feels the pain from that. Also last year I lost my older sister Theresa because of cocaine she left behind two daughters! For me MUSIC fills every and any void in my life, it's also universal. Does anyone think a song with really powerful & totally tell it like it is lyrics, would help get the message across? A song that would give ya goose bumps due to the chilling message. If nothing else it might at least make someone less willing to experiment. Like the kids that are growing up right now,if we get that message across NOW, the odds are better that the future generations will be less likely to USE N LOSE. I hope someone will write that song, and make it a hit and get it tons of publicity. Last But Not Least: To all everywhere that have RECOVERED from any dependency YOU ROCK! YOU ARE STRONG,BRAVE AND A SURVIVER! That is a really Hard thing to do,good for you!...TO ALL THAT ARE TRYING TO KICK THE HABIT, YOU CAN DO IT {MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU}. AND TO ALL THE PEOPLE WE HAVE LOST ....REST IN PEACE, YOUR TRULY MISSED AND LOVED, FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS,YOUR SPIRITS WILL NEVER DIE!

Yeah I was saddened by the news of his passing, after seeing him fight to overcome his addiction on Celebrity Rehab. I don't think he ever forgave himself after Layne's death. He was there the night before, but Layne said he'd never talk to him again if he called an ambulance. RIP Mike.
